Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller is seeking a Senior Documentation Specialist in India to create and publish technical manuals, parts catalogs, and illustrations for global products. You will work with FrameMaker, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to deliver accurate documentation with minimal supervision and collaborate across time zones.

You will coordinate with engineering and translation teams, manage revisions, and contribute to process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in handling parts catalogues, technical publications and documentation.
• Proficiency with FrameMaker, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Experience collaborating with global stakeholders across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, update, and publish technical manuals using FrameMaker and InDesign.
• Own end-to-end creation of spare parts manuals from CAD/PLM/ERP data.
• Create technical illustrations using 3D models from SolidWorks and Illustrator.
• Interpret drawings, CAD data, and BOMs for manual updates.
• Coordinate with engineering, product lines, and translation teams for publication.

Job Description:

Senior Documentation Specialist - Role Overview The position involves creating technical illustrations for manuals, developing and publishing parts manuals, and creating, editing, and updating technical manuals for Barry-Wehmiller products. It requires strong hands-on experience with Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other graphic editing tools, along with the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality documentation with minimal supervision. The role also expects good project coordination, English communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and adaptability to changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities Technical Manuals:

• Create, edit, update, and publish technical manuals such as operation and maintenance manuals using Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe InDesign.
• Own and manage end-to-end creation and revision of spare parts manuals using the data from CAD, PLM, and ERP tools.
• Create and revise technical illustrations using 3D models from SolidWorks and Adobe Illustrator.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD data, and BOM structures to perform technical manual updates.
• Monitor machine master schedules to prioritize tasks and ensure adherence to project/product delivery timelines.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Partner closely with global Engineering, Product Line Managers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver product documentation.
• Coordinate with translation and localization teams to prepare documentation for multilingual publication in global markets.

Continuous Improvement:

• Contribute to process improvements, standardization, and efficiency improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in using desktop publishing tools like Adobe InDesign, Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in using graphics creation tools like Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, and Adobe Photoshop.
• In-depth understanding of engineering drawings, BOM hierarchies, and product structures.
• Experience collaborating with global, cross-functional stakeholders across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Experience in PLM tools like Windchill, Teamcenter, Infor XA, or BlueStar PLM is required.
• Familiarity with CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo is an advantage.

GCC Education:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Technical Communication, Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience in handling parts catalogues, technical publications and documentation activities.
