ThoughtSpot is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering to lead the Agentic Platform, the foundation for AI-powered analytics experiences. You will shape technical strategy, own the architecture, and drive scalable backend systems while building a high-performing engineering organization.

You’ll collaborate with product, data science, and executive leadership to align technology with customer needs and business outcomes, coaching leaders and raising engineering standards in a fast-evolving space.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with leadership of large, complex orgs.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, platform engineering.
• Proven ability to take products from 0→1 and scale.
• Strong product/customer orientation and strategic thinking.

Senior Director of Engineering- Agent Platform

As Senior Director of Engineering , you will lead the engineering organization building ThoughtSpot’s Agentic Platform — the foundation for our next generation of AI-powered analytics experiences.

This role is for a deeply technical engineering leader who has built and scaled complex backend, distributed systems, and platforms , while also scaling high-performing engineering organizations. You will operate at both the architectural and organizational level — shaping technical strategy, solving complex problems, developing engineering leaders, and driving execution across a large organization.

You will have the opportunity to build in an evolving space, taking ideas from 0→1 and scaling them into reliable, production-grade platforms . Experience with Agentic AI, GenAI, or Applied ML is valuable, but we are equally interested in leaders who bring exceptional backend and platform engineering depth and the ability to learn and lead in new technology domains.

What You’ll Do

• Set the technical vision and architecture for ThoughtSpot’s Agentic Platform, building scalable, reliable, and extensible backend systems.
• Lead and grow a large engineering organization through engineering managers and senior technical leaders , creating a culture of ownership, high standards, and continuous learning.
• Drive complex initiatives from 0→1 through scale , bringing clarity to ambiguous problems and turning them into well-defined technical and product outcomes.
• Stay close to the technology — participate in architecture, system design, and critical technical decisions , while operating at organizational scale.
• Partner closely with Product, Data Science, Design, and senior leadership to connect technology, customer needs, and business outcomes .
• Build and evolve the organization — hiring exceptional talent, developing leaders, designing effective teams, and creating strong succession depth.
• Raise the engineering bar across architecture, execution, reliability, scalability, and engineering practices .
• Navigate trade-offs between speed, product impact, technical quality, and long-term platform investments.
• Foster an environment where engineers are motivated by challenging problems, empowered to make decisions, and accountable for outcomes .

What You’ll Bring

• 15+ years of software engineering experience , with significant experience leading large and complex engineering organizations.
• Deep technical expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, platform engineering, data-intensive systems, or large-scale SaaS products .
• A strong track record of designing and scaling complex systems and making sound architectural decisions at scale.
• Experience leading through engineering managers and senior technical leaders , with a track record of building and scaling high-performing organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to take products or platforms from 0→1 and 1→N , particularly in ambiguous or rapidly evolving environments.
• Strong product and customer orientation, with the ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes .
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively with incomplete information.
• Experience building strong engineering cultures — developing leaders, motivating teams, raising the talent bar, and creating accountability and ownership .
• Excellent communication and influence skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineering, product, data, and executive leadership.
• Experience with Agentic AI, GenAI, Applied ML, LLM-based systems, or AI platforms is a strong plus , particularly experience taking AI systems from experimentation into production.
