Sonata Software is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, implement and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure. You will automate provisioning with Terraform, build and optimize CI/CD pipelines, and drive DevOps practices across teams.

You will collaborate with engineers to define cloud-native solutions, implement observability, and ensure reliability, security and cost efficiency across environments.

Formación

• Experience designing secure, scalable AWS cloud architectures.
• Proficient in IaC and automation for provisioning.
• Hands-on with containers and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong CI/CD implementation across GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident response.
• Knowledge of cloud security, IAM, RBAC and encryption.

Job Title: Cloud Engineer

Key responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and industry best practices.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management and deployment processes.
• Drive DevOps culture and automation across development and operations teams.
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and frequent releases.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Technical Leads and Architects to define cloud-native solutions and deployment strategies.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, observability, alerting and logging solutions across all environments.
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, scalability and operational excellence.
• Support incident management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Implement and maintain cloud security best practices including IAM, network security, secrets management and compliance controls.
• Optimise cloud resource utilisation and contribute to FinOps initiatives to improve cost efficiency.
• Define and document cloud architecture, technical designs, operational procedures and runbooks.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure environments are aligned with delivery needs.
• Contribute to platform standardisation, reusable tooling and engineering governance initiatives.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning through knowledge sharing, workshops and technical mentoring.
• Delivery. Build and maintain reliable cloud platforms according to engineering standards.
• Code Quality. Follow and improve Infrastructure as Code and automation standards.
• Analyse & Estimate. Assess infrastructure requirements, technical risks and implementation effort.

Requirements

• Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, Route53, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, Secrets Manager, KMS, CloudWatch and Systems Manager (SSM).
• Strong experience designing, implementing and operating cloud-native architectures on AWS.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, reusable modules and infrastructure automation.
• Strong experience with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar platforms.
• Strong experience with source control management and Git-based development workflows.
• Strong experience with observability platforms including CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk and ELK.
• Strong experience with monitoring, alerting, log aggregation, distributed tracing and application performance monitoring.
• Strong experience implementing operational excellence practices including SLI, SLO and SLA management.
• Strong experience troubleshooting production incidents, performing root cause analysis and driving preventative measures.
• Good experience with Linux administration, networking and system troubleshooting.
• Good experience with networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, CDN, Load Balancers, Reverse Proxies and TLS/SSL certificates.
• Good experience with AWS networking services including VPC, Transit Gateway, Security Groups, Network ACLs, Route Tables, NAT Gateways and PrivateLink.
• Good experience developing automation solutions using Python, Bash or similar technologies.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices including IAM, RBAC, least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong experience with AWS Security Hub, compliance frameworks and security remediation activities.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and integrating automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience evaluating and integrating cloud security tooling for vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and threat modelling.
• Experience supporting microservices and distributed architectures in production environments.
• Experience implementing high-availability, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Strong experience with cloud cost optimisation, FinOps practices and cloud consumption governance.
• Experience using Cloudability or similar cloud financial management platforms to drive cloud visibility, optimisation and reporting.
• Experience defining and implementing cloud tagging strategies, governance standards and operational compliance controls.
• Experience designing and implementing automated remediation workflows.
• Experience creating operational dashboards, alerting frameworks, reliability metrics and engineering KPIs.
• Experience driving cloud migration initiatives, account onboarding and AWS platform transformations.
• Experience building reusable platform components, self-service capabilities and developer enablement tooling.
• Experience creating technical solution designs, architecture diagrams, operational runbooks and engineering documentation.
• Strong understanding of cloud platform services as both a producer and consumer.
• Strong understanding of release management, deployment strategies and environment management.
• Strong experience with Agile delivery methodologies and engineering tooling including Jira, Confluence and GitHub.
