Sapiens is looking for a Senior Java developer to join our Bangalore team. This role is part of the P&C division and offers a flexible hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

• Analyze provided requirement specifications and understand the technical and functional context, carry out feasibility analysis and effort estimations
• Develop and unit test user stories while adhering to defined coding standards and other quality standards
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation
• Analyze and resolve application defects
• Develop use cases and design alternatives in accordance with business requirements
• Active participation and contribution in development process and Scrum team ceremonies
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers
• Lead a small team of 2-3 people and own technical deliverables
• Help in recruitment, assimilate necessary technical knowledge and share with team to meet organizational goals
• Apply AI‑assisted coding tools such as Copilot and code analysers to generate code, improve code quality, reduce defects and accelerate delivery
• Leverage AI models to interpret requirements, generate test cases, create documentation and detect anomalies or optimization opportunities across the system
• Continuously explore and adopt emerging AI/automation practices relevant to the architecture, ensuring reuse and standardisation across teams

Qualifications

Must have Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering with 4 to 6 years of software development experience
• Solid foundation in computer science and software engineering principles
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, etc.) and/or Big data platforms like Databricks / Hadoop
• Experience with Agile development methodologies (scrum); SAFe knowledge desirable
• Troubleshooting, fine‑tuning and identifying potential bottlenecks on applications
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming, design patterns and system design fundamentals
• Exposure to security and compliance best practices in software development
• Performance optimisation – identifying bottlenecks, monitoring and proposing improvements
