Job summary

Jobtailor in Chennai, India seeks an experienced backend software engineer to develop operational software for SES satellite fleet and ground station networks. You will specify, design, implement, test and maintain orchestration, operations and administration tooling, with emphasis on automation and reliability.

You will work with Go and Angular, integrate with Kafka, REST, gRPC and cloud orchestration tools, and drive CI/CD automation while ensuring security and scalable performance.

Qualifications

• Graduated in Computer Science or Software Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level)
• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in back‑end software technologies
• Proficient in Git
• Proficient in networking authentication and security for software systems
• Expertise in programming in Go and Angular
• Comfortable with Linux OS
• Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, NoSQL)
• Interface layers: Kafka, REST, gRPC, ZMQ TCP/IP networks
• Web servers (Apache, NGINX)
• Virtualized & containerized deployments
• Understanding of cloud orchestration tools and API standards (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes)
• Fluency in English

Responsibilities

• Develop operational software components and solutions for SES to support operations of the satellite fleet and ground station network
• Specify, design, develop, test and maintain operational software for orchestration, operations and administration of the SES satellite fleet and ground station network
• Develop and execute automated BDD testing to ensure the reliability and performance of software components
• Support the transition of new products into operations ensuring the proper tools and training are in place including lifecycle support
• Automate the development lifecycle by employing Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD)

Requirements

• Graduated in Computer Science or Software Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level)
• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in back‑end software technologies
• Proficient expertise working with Git
• Proficient in networking authentication and security for software systems
• Expertise in programming in at least two of the following languages (our current development is based on Go): Go (Mandatory), Angular (Mandatory)
• Comfortable working with the following technologies and toolchains: Linux OS
• Familiarity with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, NoSQL)
