SAP SE in Bengaluru seeks a senior AI/ML engineer to design production-grade AI agents that autonomously orchestrate SAP S/4HANA processes. You will architect MCP-based integrations, implement A2A communication, and optimize performance and cost across services.

You will define evaluation frameworks, drive robust AI strategies, and mentor peers while collaborating with product, design, and cloud operations for reliable releases.

Competenze

• Ten years or more of programming experience in the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Deep experience with distributed systems and scalable design, including resiliency and fault tolerance.
• Hands-on LLM engineering: prompt design, function/tool calling, structured outputs, multi-turn reasoning.
• Experience with advanced RAG patterns and multi-agent orchestration.

What You'll Bring

• Minimum of 10 years of programming experience in the Software Development Lifecycle
• Deep experience with distributed systems and scalable application design, including resiliency and fault tolerance.
• Strong, hands‑on LLM engineering: prompt design, function/tool calling, structured outputs, multi‑turn reasoning, and agentic workflow design.
• Proven application of advanced RAG patterns (retriever optimization, indexing strategies, grounding, guardrails) and multi‑agent orchestration.
• Experience in architecting tool integrations via MCP across multiple products/teams.
• Working knowledge of SAP BTP AI services — Generative AI Hub, AI Core, and Joule Studio — including agentic orchestration for production deployments.
• Familiarity with the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol for designing bidirectional, interoperable multi-agent architectures across SAP and external agent ecosystems.
• Hands‑on experience with agentic AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph to build, test, and operate production agent workflows.
• Expertise in performance tuning, cost management, and debugging complex production systems.
• Solid grounding in SRE principles: service‑level objectives, runbooks, observability (logs/metrics/traces), incident management, and postmortems.
• Experience designing and operating evaluation frameworks for AI systems to validate model behavior and reliability.
• Technical leadership: mentoring, driving design reviews, raising code quality, and influencing engineering practices.
• Excellent communication skills; able to translate business processes into agentic workflows and clearly articulate AI value to non‑technical stakeholders.
• A problem‑solving mindset with rigorous troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture, data models, released APIs, and end‑to‑end business processes; Finance domain knowledge is an advantage.
• Hands‑on expertise in ABAP Objects, modern ABAP, ABAP CDS/VDM, RAP, OData, enhancement frameworks, APIs, and performance‑oriented development.

What You'll Build

• Design and deliver production‑grade AI agents that autonomously orchestrate SAP S/4HANA business processes, including multi‑agent patterns and advanced RAG pipelines.
• Define and own AI evaluation and benchmarking frameworks to measure quality, reliability, safety, and performance.
• Architect and implement tool integration using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) across multiple product teams and systems.
• Build A2A‑compliant agent architectures enabling structured, bidirectional communication between Joule and BTP agents.
• Wrap OData services and S/4HANA APIs as MCP‑consumable tools via the SAP Integration Suite MCP Gateway, making them securely accessible to AI agents across teams and products.
• Optimize system latency, throughput, resilience, and cost across services and workloads; continuously tune performance and efficiency.
• Establish and evolve observability (logs, metrics, traces), alerting, incident response, and post‑incident reviews in line with SRE best practices.
• Partner with platform, data, and AI teams to design robust, scalable integrations and harden systems for production.
• Build high‑quality SAP solutions using ABAP/OO ABAP, modern ABAP, RAP, CDS/VDM, OData services, enhancement frameworks, and APIs.
• Deliver features through the full lifecycle: technical design, implementation, automated testing, release, stabilization, and ongoing production support.
• Collaborate with product, design, and cloud operations to shape roadmaps and ship value; drive automation in CI/CD and multi‑level test strategies for frequent, reliable releases.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, implement preventive actions, and continuously improve security and reliability.
