Job summary

SAP SE in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced software engineer with deep AI/LLM expertise to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI agents that orchestrate SAP S/4HANA business processes. You will implement MCP-based tool integrations, develop A2A architectures, and ensure secure, scalable, and observable production systems.

The role requires strong knowledge of LLM workflows, RAG patterns, LangChain experience, and ABAP modernization.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong, practical LLM engineering skills: prompt design, function/tool calling, structured outputs, multi-turn reasoning, and agentic workflow design.
• Proven application of RAG patterns (retriever optimization, indexing strategies, grounding, guardrails) and multi-agent orchestration.
• Experience integrating tools via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) across multiple products/teams.
• Working knowledge of SAP BTP AI services: Generative AI Hub, AI Core, and Joule Studio.
• Familiarity with the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol to design interoperable, bidirectional multi-agent architectures spanning SAP and external ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) to build, test, and operate production agent workflows.
• Experience in operating evaluation frameworks for AI systems to validate model behavior, reliability, and regression safety.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with rigorous troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce production-grade AI agents that autonomously orchestrate SAP S/4HANA business processes.
• Develop MCP-based tool integrations across product teams and systems.
• Design A2A-compliant agent architectures enabling structured, bidirectional communication between Joule and BTP agents.
• Wrap OData services and S/4HANA APIs via SAP Integration Suite's MCP Gateway for secure, consumable tools.
• Optimize performance and cost of services and workloads, with emphasis on latency, throughput, resilience, and efficiency.
• Establish team observability: logs, metrics, traces, alerts, and post-incident reviews aligned to SRE practices.
• Partner with platform, data, and AI teams to harden production readiness and drive reliable integrations.
• Deliver SAP solutions using ABAP/OO ABAP, modern ABAP, RAP, CDS/VDM, OData, and APIs.
• Handle end-to-end features: implementation, automated testing, release, stabilization, and ongoing production support.

• Performance and cost optimizations across services and workloads; continuous tuning for latency, throughput, resilience, and efficiency
• Team-level observability (logs, metrics, traces), alerting, incident response, and post-incident review practices aligned to SRE standards
• Robust, scalable integrations in partnership with platform, data, and AI teams; progressive hardening for production readiness
• High-quality SAP solutions using ABAP/OO ABAP, modern ABAP, RAP, CDS/VDM, OData services, enhancement frameworks, and APIs
• Features delivered end-to-end: implementation, automated testing, release, stabilization, and ongoing production support
• Root-cause analyses and preventive actions that continuously improve security, reliability, and developer experience
