Role and responsibilities

Vault is a complex product customers rely on to secure their most critical systems and workloads. You will work with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to research, define, execute, and deliver high-quality designs. You will be part of a distributed, global team focused on user experience and identifying strategic opportunities for improvement. You will contribute to product strategy and vision discussions and help drive alignment through the team\'s work. If you love solving interesting, novel problems, this is a role you\'ll enjoy.

What you’ll do (responsibilities):

• Be a passionate designer who thrives in uncertainty and ambiguity.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to set priorities, goals, and roadmaps, and guide product innovations from concepts to GA release.
• Own the end-to-end design process, develop a domain understanding of our products and the jobs-to-be-done for our users.
• Combine research and creativity to deliver practical, elegant solutions for technical users, validating designs through generative research, user testing, and analytics.
• Partner with engineers on feasibility, responsiveness, and details of components.
• Work iteratively in a dynamic environment, incorporating user and stakeholder feedback to refine designs.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine and prioritize new features and enhancements critical to HashiCorp customers and community.
• Leverage HashiCorp\'s Design System to elevate design quality.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Experience (10+ years) building user interface mockups (low- and high-fidelity), patterns, mockups, storyboards, interactive prototypes, and development-ready specifications.
• Experience (5+ years) leading user research studies to uncover customer insights and develop valuable, usable product solutions.
• Experience (5+ years) designing for complex technical experiences, especially for enterprise IT and security products.
• Experience influencing multidisciplinary teams, communicating design needs, and collaborating on design work across a globally distributed remote team.
• Experience with modern design thinking methodologies and UX tools (Figma, Mural, Dovetail, Qualtrics, UserZoom, etc.).
• Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills as well as storytelling and documentation skills.
• You are a problem solver, take ownership of your work, and focus on delivering impact.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• You have familiarity with HashiCorp and IBM products.
