Job summary

RTX India Private Limited is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the India Engineering Center in Bengaluru. The role focuses on mechanical systems, externals and nacelles for geared turbofan and related engines, delivering robust design solutions within project milestones.

You will collaborate with IPTs, apply advanced modeling and analysis tools, and contribute to ongoing process improvements while interfacing with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in design of gas turbine hardware, tubes/brackets/mountings and related components.

• Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions within program milestones.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

The successful candidate will join the Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles Engineering (MSEN) Design team to provide production and field support for our Geared Turbo Fan and Operational Commercial engines. This could include components such as mounting, tube routings, brackets, support structures, bearing compartment support structures etc

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones.
• Collaboration with multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
• Understand technical processes and design requirements of gas turbine hardware.
• Learn and apply sophisticated solid modeling and analysis tools in a highly proficient manner.
• Utilize standard work, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and other tools to continuously improve design processes.
• Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy.
• Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics.

Basic Qualifications

• Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years' of prior relevant experience
• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 8+ years' of prior relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in design of tube, bracket and mountings
• Experience in gas turbine field especially in engine externals/configurations
• High proficiency in Unigraphics, MS Office, Teamcenter and SAP is desired.
• Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
• Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected.
• Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.
• Experienced in Siemens tools such as NX, Team Center, Latest GD&T and its application on CAD models
• Experience in evaluating the failure modes using DFMEA.
• Proficiency in performing and reviewing tolerance stack-ups.
• ASME standards such as ASME Y14.5 - 2018, ASME Y14.41 - 2019 and other industry standards.
• Experience in analysis tools such as ANSYS APDL and workbench is preferred.
• Automated design optimization skills are added advantage.
• Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Broad understanding of hardware, drawings and manufacturing methods.
• Green/Black Belt six sigma certification is also a plus.
