Unilog in Bengaluru (Bangalore) seeks a Senior Database Developer / Principal Engineer with deep MySQL stored‑procedure expertise to own the data‑tier business logic of CX1 PIM. You will work with the Java Architect and DBA team to keep the stored‑procedure layer reliable while evolving portable SQL helpers for modernization.

You must read, debug, write, and optimize large procedures, handle production incidents, and contribute to schema design and versioned migrations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on relational database development with a focus on MySQL.

Job Synopsis

We are hiring a Senior Database Programmer with deep, hands‑on MySQL stored‑procedure expertise to own and evolve the data-tier business logic of CX1 PIM. Today the majority of CX1 PIM's business logic (item lifecycle, subset refresh, workspace initialization, catalog computation (precompute), promotion, export, item matching, and shadow-table hash‑key generation) lives inside large, complex MySQL stored procedures, functions, and triggers; the Java application layer is intentionally thin and mostly orchestrates database calls. This role requires the proven ability to read, understand, debug, write, and safely modify very large procedures, with individual procedures ranging from a few hundred to several thousand lines and using heavy dynamic SQL, cursors, and multi‑table joins over catalogs in the millions of items. The programmer will work closely with the Java Architect, Engineering Management, and the DBA team to keep the current stored‑procedure layer reliable and performant, while incrementally carving out narrow, portable, set‑based SQL helpers that support the platform's modernization roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and document complex existing stored procedures, functions, and triggers, including multi‑thousand‑line, dynamic‑SQL procedures such as subset precompute, merge, refresh, and promotion.
• Write, modify, and optimize stored procedures, functions, and triggers to deliver new features and defect fixes with minimal regression risk.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues in the stored‑procedure layer, including stuck or failed background jobs, performance regressions, and data‑correctness defects, with durable root‑cause fixes.
• Optimize query and procedure performance: execution‑plan (EXPLAIN) analysis, indexing and partitioning strategy, set‑based rewrites of row‑by‑row (cursor) logic, and reduction of dynamic‑SQL overhead.
• Harden transaction boundaries, error/exception handling, and data integrity across the procedure catalog.
• Support the stored‑procedure‑to‑Java modernization by extracting narrow, parameterized, portable SQL helpers from monolithic procedures while preserving set‑based performance.
• Contribute to schema design and partitioning, and manage version‑controlled schema changes (Liquibase / Flyway).
• Participate in code reviews of stored‑procedure changes; establish and follow SP coding standards, documentation, and testing practices.
• Partner with the DBA team on production readiness, replication, and tuning.

Qualifications and Skills

MySQL & Stored Procedures

• 10+ years of hands‑on relational database development, with 7+ years writing and maintaining complex MySQL stored procedures, functions, and triggers in production.
• Demonstrated ability to read and safely modify very large procedures (1,000–6,000+ lines) involving dynamic SQL (PREPARE / EXECUTE), cursors, temporary tables, and multi‑table joins.
• Expert in query optimization: EXPLAIN / execution‑plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, and converting row‑by‑row logic to set‑based operations.
• Strong command of transaction management, isolation levels, locking / deadlock diagnosis, and error handling in MySQL procedural code.

Data & Performance

• Proven experience with large data volumes (tables / catalogs in the millions of rows) and ETL‑style bulk transformations and materialized‑refresh routines.
• Experience with schema version control and zero‑downtime migration strategies (Liquibase / Flyway).
• Working knowledge of Solr (or Elasticsearch) indexing / search workloads is a plus.

Tools & Practice

• Comfortable with Git‑based workflows, merge requests / code review, and CI for database code.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation for complex procedures and data flows.
