Job summary

Skyhigh Security is seeking a Senior Database Administrator with strong DevOps skills to augment our engineering teams. You will design data models, manage RDS, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL in AWS, and build robust pipelines for data processing and distribution.

You will implement monitoring and cost controls, streamline CI/CD using ArgoCD/GitHub Actions, and collaborate with vendors to optimize cloud architecture. A hands-on leader who can run initiatives end-to-end will thrive here.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of industry experience in database administration and DevOps.
• Experience with cloud databases and AWS.
• Proficiency in scripting languages Perl, Python, Bash.
• Experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with GitOps and CI/CD tooling (ArgoCD/Argo Workflows/GitHub Actions).
• Proficient in Linux-based systems and common DevOps tools (Jira, GitHub).
• Ability to design scalable data architectures and optimize cloud costs.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data processing in a large data ecosystem.
• Lead database design and management in a cloud environment.
• Build and sustain data ingress, processing, and distribution pipelines.
• Identify efficient tech approaches to implement business logic.
• Align with DevOps strategies and drive run-it-yourself culture.
• Collaborate with vendors and external partners as needed.
• Implement monitoring and alerting to meet SLAs.
• Manage engineering and production costs in the cloud environment.
• Track SLAs for regular review and reporting.
• Collaborate with Support to improve customer communications.
• Evaluate options for managed services vs self-hosted solutions.

Role Overview:

As Database admin with strong DevOps skills complement an Engineering teams capability to foster our "you build it, you run it" culture

• Design and implement data processing in a big data environment

• Database design and management in a cloud environment

• Build and sustain the pipeline of data ingress, processing and data distribution

• Identify the most efficient technology approach to the implement business logic

• As liaison into the larger DevOps organization ensure alignment with the strategic technology approach and DevOps concepts

• Entertain working relationships with your technical counterparts at our vendors and external partners

• Implement monitoring and alerting to support the team reaching customer related SLAs

• Manage engineering and production costs in our cloud environment

• Identify and track SLAs for regular review

• Collaborate with our Support team to build the tool set that can feed into productive customer communications

• Identify areas where to apply managed service over self hosted
