Funding Societies | Modalku is the largest SME digital finance platform in Southeast Asia, licensed in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to analyze complex datasets, develop predictive models, and drive business decisions.

You will build and deploy ML models for credit scoring, risk profiling, and fraud detection, while ensuring governance, documentation, and robust monitoring.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data science, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.
• Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
• Strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning.
• Expertise in credit modelling and risk management is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Model Development & Deployment: Design, build, and productionise ML models for credit scoring, risk profiling, fraud detection, and customer segmentation.
• Model Governance & Documentation: Prepare and maintain model documentation and drive models through internal review and sign-off ahead of deployment.
• Analytical Insights & Impact: Perform deep-dive analyses to uncover trends and insights, translating findings into data-driven narratives and dashboards.
• Model Infrastructure & MLOps: Build scalable pipelines and infrastructure for end-to-end lifecycle, automate workflows for reproducibility and governance.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor junior data scientists and analysts and lead high-impact data science initiatives.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. You will work with a diverse team of experts in a collaborative and innovative environment, analysing complex datasets, developing predictive models, and providing insights that drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Development & Deployment: Design, build, and productionise machine learning models for credit scoring, risk profiling, fraud detection, and customer segmentation, calibrating existing scoring logic and business rules to improve predictive performance.
• Model Governance & Documentation: Prepare and maintain model documentation (data sources, features, assumptions) and drive models through internal review, credit review, and sign-off ahead of deployment, ensuring models remain interpretable, robust, and aligned with regulatory standards.
• Analytical Insights & Impact: Perform deep-dive analyses to uncover trends and actionable insights that improve model performance and product strategy, translating findings into clear, data-driven narratives and building self-serve tools, dashboards, and model monitoring frameworks for transparency and measurable impact.
• Model Infrastructure & MLOps: Build and maintain scalable model pipelines and infrastructure supporting the end-to-end lifecycle (training, validation, deployment, monitoring), and automate workflows to reduce operational overhead and enhance reproducibility and governance.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor junior data scientists and analysts through structured guidance and technical reviews, and lead high-impact data science initiatives from problem scoping to final delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.
• Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
• Strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning.
• Expertise in credit modelling and risk management is an added advantage.
• Experience navigating formal model governance processes (documentation, committee review, sign-off) in a regulated environment.
• Comfort incorporating AI-assisted tools (e.g. code generation, automated documentation) into day-to-day model development.
