Job summary

PayU is seeking a Manager - Data Science to lead the data science team in the Credit Risk domain. You will own end-to-end AI/ML solutions, design, deploy and maintain models, and manage stakeholder expectations across fintech products.

The role requires 5+ years in data science, strong Python/R/SQL skills, and hands-on experience with Spark. You will drive innovation using non-traditional data and advanced modeling techniques to improve risk insights.

Qualifications

• Degree in Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or similar quantitative field.
• 5+ years experience as Data Scientist, preferably in fintech.
• Hands-on with Python, R and SQL.
• Proficient in Logistic Regression, CatBoost, XGBoost, SVM, clustering, PCA.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark.
• Excellent business sense; ability to solve problems with data-driven methods.
• Detail-oriented with high-quality reporting and analysis.
• Strong presentation skills to stakeholders.
• Curious, eager to learn, and a great teammate.

• Lead a team of data scientists
• End-to-end ownership of designing, deploying and maintaining AI/ML solutions
• Manage stakeholders’ expectations

• Ensuring all project documentation is up to date and maintain the high levels of quality in deliverables

Requirements to be successful in this role:

• A degree in Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or other similar quantitative field
• 5+ year work experience as a Data scientist preferably in fintech space
• Hands on experience with ML/programming tools such as Python, R, and SQL
• Proficiency in some of the following statistical techniques: Logistic Regression, Catboost, XGBoost models, SVM, Clustering, PCA etc.
• Experienced in distributed computing frameworks such as Spark
• Team management experience is a plus
• Good business acumen with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative methodologies
• Detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality in reports & analysis
• Experience in presenting ideas and analysis to stakeholders
• Exhibit intellectual curiosity and strive to continually learn
• Should be a great teammate who promotes knowledge-sharing
