Job summary

CreditSea in India is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics for unsecured lending and portfolio risk. You will design and validate ML models for credit underwriting, collection strategies, and sourcing, leveraging diverse data sources including bureau, banking, and alternative data.

You will deploy models into real-time decisioning systems, build monitoring and alerting, and ensure compliance with RBI Model Risk Management guidelines. Experience in fintech is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Indian fintech / banking domain.
• Expertise in statistical / machine learning modeling and data science initiatives related to credit underwriting, collections, sourcing, etc.
• Experience using diverse data sources including credit bureau, banking, and alternative data.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, deploy, and productionalize key models (e.g., PD, Reject Inference, Income Estimation, Propensity Models).
• Lead integration of models into real-time decisioning systems with robust monitoring, alerts, and triggers.
• Adhere to RBI RBI Model Risk Management guidelines with documentation, governance, validation, monitoring and reviews.
• Evaluate and onboard third-party data and analytics solutions to enhance predictive power.

Senior Data Scientist

• The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience in Indian fintech / banking domain, with a strong focus on statistical / machine learning modeling and data science initiatives related to credit underwriting, collections, sourcing, etc. for unsecured short-term personal loans. Expertise in leveraging diverse data sources, including credit bureau, banking, and alternative data, is essential.

• The individual will also be responsible for the development, validation, deployment, and productionalization of key models, including (but not limited to) Probability of Default (PD), Reject Inference, Income Estimation, Propensity Models in Sourcing, Collections, etc.

• The role will also involve leading the integration of the aforementioned models into real-time decisioning systems, ensuring robust monitoring frameworks, alerts, and triggers are established to proactively identify model performance degradation, operational risks, and production issues.

A key responsibility will be ensuring adherence to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Model Risk Management guidelines, including:

• Comprehensive model documentation
• Governance and validation processes
• Regular model monitoring and performance tracking
• Periodic model reviews and recalibration

• In addition, the candidate will be expected to evaluate and onboard third-party data and analytics solutions that provide orthogonal predictive insights, thereby enhancing the predictive power and effectiveness of the organization's modeling framework.
