Job summary

Chubb India is seeking a Senior Data Scientist I to design and deploy end-to-end ML solutions, from data engineering to model production, in a fast-paced analytics-driven environment.

You will build scalable data pipelines, leverage Databricks/Spark, and implement robust MLOps processes to ensure model reliability and ongoing improvements. This role demands 3–6 years of hands-on experience in data science and a strong command of Python and SQL.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years' hands-on experience in data science, ML, or AI engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow).
• Strong SQL skills with complex queries and optimization.
• Experience with Databricks, MLflow, and building LLM/RAG-based applications.
• CI/CD practices and Git version control.

Responsibilities

• AI/ML & Data Science Develop and deploy end-to-end machine learning solutions for insurance use cases such as claims triage, fraud detection, reserve estimation, underwriting risk scoring, and subrogation identification. Build and operationalize LLM-powered applications, including claim summarization, adjuster assistance tools (copilots), intelligent document extraction, and RAG pipelines. Fine-tune, prompt-engineer, and adapt foundation models (e.g., GPT-4, Gemini, LLaMA) for domain-specific applications. Design advanced NLP pipelines to extract structured insights from unstructured sources (e.g., claim notes, medical records, police reports). Explore and evaluate cutting-edge agentic AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen) for advanced use cases.
• Data Engineering & Analytics Construct scalable data pipelines using Databricks (Delta Lake, MLflow, Apache Spark) for large, diverse insurance datasets. Perform efficient data preparation, feature engineering, and transformation using Python and SQL (Snowflake/Databricks SQL). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain clean feature stores and cataloged assets. Translate raw insurance data (claims, policy, billing) into machine learning–ready features. Write robust unit and integration tests to ensure ML pipeline stability and reliability.
• MLOps & Model Productionization Implement reliable CI/CD pipelines for ML workflows using platforms like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Databricks Workflows. Manage the ML lifecycle; automate experiment tracking, versioning, staging, and deployment with MLflow and model registries. Monitor models in production for drift and performance, implementing automated alerting and retraining as needed.

Requirements

• 3–6 years' hands‑on experience in data science, machine learning, or AI engineering. Advanced proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow). Strong SQL skills — experience with complex queries, window functions, and query optimization. Practical experience with Databricks (notebooks, Delta Lake, Spark, MLflow, Workflows) or similar analytics platforms. Demonstrated experience in building, deploying, and maintaining LLM and RAG-based applications (including prompt engineering, vector databases, e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Vertex AI Vector Search, Chroma). Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, including automated testing, deployment pipelines, and promotion workflows. Version control expertise using Git (branching strategies, pull requests, code review). Experience with VS Code for Python development, Jupyter notebooks, and remote environments. Strong grasp of ML fundamentals: supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, and validation.
