We value strong data fundamentals, Python/Java/Scala coding, and experience with streaming technologies. You will mentor engineers and shape robust data solutions for global platforms.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in data engineering or backend roles with a data focus.
• Strong SQL and RDBMS fundamentals including query optimization and schema design.
• Hands-on with Big Data tech—Hive, Spark, Presto, HDFS, Kafka or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of data-intensive modules across ad serving, analytics, and reporting.
• Design, optimize, and maintain scalable batch and real-time data pipelines using SQL, NoSQL, and Big Data tech.
• Work with streaming tech such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink for real-time processing.
• Ensure high availability, low latency, data reliability, and robustness across systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, data scientists, and eng teams to translate requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive architectural and performance improvements.

About the Role:

As a Senior Data Application Engineer, you will own the end-to-end delivery of data modules and platforms powering critical business use cases across real-time bidding, reporting, analytics, and large-scale advertising systems. This role requires a strong foundation in databases and SQL, combined with hands-on experience in Big Data ecosystems and distributed data processing systems. You will lead a small team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in architecture, optimization, and execution. Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and enhancement of data-intensive modules across ad serving, analytics, and reporting platforms
• Design, optimize, and maintain scalable batch and real-time data pipelines using SQL, NoSQL, and Big Data technologies
• Work with streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink for real-time event processing
• Ensure high availability, low latency, data reliability, and robustness across internal and customer-facing systems
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, data scientists, and platform engineering teams to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Drive architectural discussions, code reviews, engineering best practices, and system optimization initiatives
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth and technical excellence
• Ensure best practices around data governance, schema evolution, observability, and performance tuning

Required Skills:

• 5–8 years of experience working in data engineering or backend roles with a strong data focus
• Solid command over SQL and RDBMS concepts – query optimization, indexing, schema design
• Hands-on experience with Big Data and NoSQL technologies – Hive, Spark, Presto, HDFS, Kafka, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
• Experience with large-scale data processing, batch & stream pipelines, and performance tuning
• Exposure to distributed systems or cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus
• Ability to take ownership and drive outcomes while mentoring and growing a small team
