Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering modern data and technology solutions for some of the world’s largest organisations.

This is a hands-on engineering role, working across the full data engineering lifecycle — from designing and developing data platforms and pipelines through to optimisation, deployment and production support.

You’ll work alongside data scientists, analytics specialists, engineers and consulting teams to solve complex business problems using modern data engineering technologies. The role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of industries and projects rather than being tied to a single product or environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop and deploy scalable data engineering solutions for complex enterprise environments.
• Build and maintain modern data pipelines and platforms supporting analytics, data science and business applications.
• Transform data at scale, including cleaning, enriching, de-duplicating, joining and correlating structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
• Develop reusable data engineering components and building blocks that can be applied across multiple projects.
• Work closely with consulting and client teams to understand business challenges and translate them into practical data solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineering leaders to develop and advocate for modern data engineering approaches.
• Enable data and technology capabilities for data science, analytics and other application use cases.
• Implement innovative approaches to deployment, infrastructure automation and engineering tooling.
• Contribute to infrastructure engineering across the data ecosystem, including development, testing, deployment and release.
• Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, documentation, testing and code reviews.
• Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests and contribute to automated quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact solutions in complex enterprise environments.
• Stay current with emerging technologies across cloud computing, data engineering, analytics and software engineering.
• Contribute to the development of new engineering approaches and reusable solutions across the wider practice.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a technically strong Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working across the full engineering lifecycle.

You’ll ideally bring:

• 4+ years' professional experience in data engineering, software engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong hands-on programming experience, with 2+ years in Python, Scala, Java, C++, C#, Go or a similar language.
• Proven experience designing and developing data pipelines using technologies such as Airflow, Beam, Luigi, Metaflow, Kubeflow or similar.
• Strong experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, with exposure to platforms such as:
• Databricks
• Snowflake
• SQL Server
• Oracle
• MySQL
• Redis
• MongoDB
• Elasticsearch
• Hive / HBase
• Amazon Redshift
• Experience working with AWS, Azure and/or GCP, or Kubernetes environments.
• Experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation.
• Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD, including tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Solid computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object‑oriented programming, automated testing and software performance.
• Understanding of how computer architecture and application design can influence software performance and scalability.
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
• End-to-end experience delivering data or software engineering solutions within a product engineering, consulting or professional services environment.
• Experience across project setup, dependency management, build management and test case development.
