Job summary

Kake, a remote-first, people-first global community of engineers, seeks Senior Data Engineers to turn raw data into reliable insights and scalable pipelines. You’ll own data problems end-to-end, partnering with product and engineering to drive data-driven decisions across 45,000+ engineers in 55+ countries.

Role emphasizes data pipelines, analytics, ML models, and strong SQL/NoSQL, Python or R, with remote-friendly, US PST overlap and USD compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Data Science, or Data Engineering.
• Strong experience with SQL and relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on programming with Python or R.
• Experience building data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data warehouses.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI/Looker).
• Ability to translate business questions into data-driven analysis and recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for Senior Data Engineers with strong experience in data analysis, data science, or data engineering, skilled in turning raw data into reliable insights and scalable pipelines. It's a great fit for people who enjoy owning data problems end-to-end and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to drive data‑informed decisions.

What you’ll build and own

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows that support analytics, reporting, and modelling needs.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights for the business.
• Build, validate, and maintain statistical or machine learning models to solve business problems.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across sources and pipelines.
• Design and maintain data models, schemas, and warehouses that support scalable analytics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into data solutions and clear reporting.
• Contribute to data best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across projects.
• Participate in requirement reviews and help identify data risks early in the development process.

Core Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Data Science, or Data Engineering.
• Strong experience with SQL and working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Hands‑on experience with a programming language such as Python, R, or similar.
• Experience building or maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data warehouses.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar.
• Ability to translate business questions into clear, data‑driven analysis and recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast‑paced environment.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with big data or cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Programming experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, or similar.
• AI-forward mindset with active use of AI‑assisted tools for data analysis, coding, or modelling (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Cursor).
• Experience contributing to data strategy or quality initiatives at a senior level.
• Comfortable working flexible hours to overlap with distributed teams across different time zones.
