Job description

Are you an Alteryx powerhouse who thrives on taking manual, fragmented data processes and turning them into scalable, automated, rock-solid pipelines? Do you excel at taking full ownership of projects—from talking directly to business stakeholders to tuning SQL and optimizing Tableau data models?

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to serve as our resident Alteryx Subject Matter Expert. As a critical independent contributor, you will own the end-to-end development lifecycle and build the data backbone for our enterprise Tableau suite.

What You’ll Own

• End-to-End Pipeline Engineering: Own the full lifecycle—from requirement solicitation with business stakeholders to architectural design and final delivery.
• Advanced Alteryx Workflows: Design and maintain sophisticated workflows using batch/iterative macros, spatial tools, and analytic apps.
• Automation & Error-Proofing: Eliminate manual data handling by building self-healing workflows complete with built-in error handling and data quality checkpoints.
• Data & Query Optimization: Write and tune complex SQL queries across relational and cloud databases (Snowflake, SQL Server) for maximum performance.
• Tableau Integration: Partner with visualization leads to optimize data extracts (Hyper/TDE) specifically for high-performing Tableau dashboards.

Qualification Requirements

To be successful, you must already possess the following execution-ready skills:

• 3+ Years of Dedicated Alteryx Mastery: You must be currently working in Alteryx Designer with deep, proven expertise in complex joins, spatial tools, and advanced macros (standard, batch, and iterative).
• Advanced Production SQL: Proven ability to write, tune, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries in production environments.
• Dimensional Data Modeling: Strong grasp of Star/Snowflake schemas and ETL/ELT best practices.
• Self-Starter Mindset: Proven track record as an independent contributor who can translate vague business needs into technical specs and manage project timelines without direct supervision.

Strongly Preferred:

• Direct experience optimizing datasets specifically for Tableau performance.
• Cloud platform experience and fetching data via REST/SOAP APIs using Alteryx Download tools.
• Familiarity with Python/R tools inside Alteryx for custom connectors or statistical modeling.
