AgilityDelivered is a specialist DevSecOps consultancy focused on automating and optimising secure software delivery. As Senior Data Engineer, you will own data workflows end-to-end for a fast-growing fintech client, designing pipelines, models and reports that give the business the insight to grow.

You will work autonomously in a collaborative team, partnering with developers and business stakeholders to translate needs into robust data solutions using Snowflake, Kleene, dbt, Airflow and BI

Qualifications

Role Overview

As Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor at Agility Delivered, delivering data solutions directly for our clients. You will be working on a current engagement with a fast-growing fintech client that needs robust data reporting and analysis to support their enterprise solution, building the pipelines, models, and reports that give their business the insight it needs to grow.

This is a hands-on role with genuine ownership of the solutions you build. You will design data workflows yourself, from requirements through to production, and you will do so with a high degree of autonomy, taking complex problems from end to end without needing to be closely directed. We are looking for someone who has real commercial experience with modern data tooling in production, not simply exposure to it, and who is naturally curious about what the data is telling them.

You will not be working in isolation. You will collaborate closely with the wider business team and the developers at Agility Delivered to translate client needs into working solutions and to deliver outcomes the client can rely on. You should be a clear and confident communicator, equally comfortable talking to a fellow engineer, an Agility Delivered developer, or a non-technical stakeholder on the client side.

You will operate with real autonomy and no micromanagement, within a highly collaborative team that puts accountability and integrity first. There is a broader engineering practice for collaboration and peer support, but you will be trusted to drive your own delivery and to own the outcomes for the client.

Key Responsibilities

Design, Build and Operate

• Design data workflows and pipelines yourself, from requirements through to production, taking full ownership of the solutions you build.
• Work extensively with Snowflake and Kleene to build and operate modern, scalable data solutions for our clients.
• Write, optimise, and troubleshoot complex SQL, applying a solid understanding of query performance and tuning.
• Build the data reporting and analysis capabilities our fintech client needs to support their enterprise solution.
• Improve data quality, reliability, performance, and monitoring across the data platform.
• Contribute to data architecture, engineering standards, and best practices.

Delivery, Analysis and Collaboration

• Work closely with the Agility Delivered business team and developers to understand client requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Perform hands‑on data analysis to explore, validate, and make sense of data, surfacing insights and spotting anomalies before they reach the client.
• Partner with the client to build the reports and datasets they actually need, iterating until the output is genuinely useful.
• Operate independently, owning delivery from end to end and driving outcomes for the client.
• Communicate progress, decisions, and technical trade‑offs clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, in writing and in conversation.

Learning and Growth

• Stay ahead of the curve by actively exploring emerging tools, platforms, and methodologies, and bring new ideas back to the team.
• Share knowledge generously through documentation, informal sessions, and hands‑on collaboration with colleagues.
• Contribute to internal initiatives such as reusable data frameworks, tooling improvements, and engineering best practices.
• Seek out feedback and use it to continuously sharpen your craft.

Technology Environment

• Data warehouse: Snowflake (primary).
• Data integration and pipelines: Kleene.
• Querying and transformation: advanced SQL, with a strong focus on optimisation.
• Engineering and automation: Python.
• Cloud: one of Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven commercial experience working as a Data Engineer or in a similar data engineering role.
• A solid understanding of SQL and query optimisation, with the confidence to write, tune, and troubleshoot complex queries.
• Hands‑on commercial experience with Snowflake in a production data environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Kleene, or a comparable ELT and data management platform.
• The ability to design data workflows and pipelines independently, from requirements through to production.
• Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to explore, profile, and interrogate data to understand what it means and whether it can be trusted.
• A good understanding of data warehousing and modern data architecture.
• The ability to operate independently while collaborating with the business and the developers to deliver outcomes for clients.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience delivering data solutions in a consultancy or client‑facing environment.
• Experience in fintech, or in other regulated or enterprise data environments.
• Experience with dbt and data transformation modelling.
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

Relevant cloud or data certifications, for example SnowPro or Azure Data Engineer.
