Reporting Line

• Reports to Senior Manager of Data Analytics

Purpose

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to join their Data Analytics Team. The successful candidate will act as the guardian of data accuracy and system reliability. This role focuses on investigating and resolving complex data discrepancies, performing root cause analysis across data pipelines from SAP and BigQuery to Looker and PowerBI, and handling insight extraction across various data sources. The role also involves troubleshooting technical issues in existing dashboards and ensuring strong business trust in data assets.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data Integrity and Root Cause Analysis

• Act as the primary investigator for reported data discrepancies.
• Trace data lineage from visualization layers such as Looker and PowerBI back to raw sources including BigQuery and SAP.
• Identify, explain, and fix root causes of data mismatches.

Technical Troubleshooting and Maintenance

• Review and debug existing codebases including LookML, PowerBI DAX, and SQL.
• Identify logic errors or inefficiencies in dashboards and implement fixes or guide developers on remediation.

Focus on Explanation

• Translate technical root causes into clear business explanations for stakeholders, including explaining why numbers changed or were missing.

Insight Generation

• Execute rapid data insight extraction and analysis requests to support immediate business questions.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Communicate complex data insights effectively to senior stakeholders.
• Clearly articulate analysis outcomes and their business implications.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
• Ensure seamless project execution and knowledge sharing.

Work Experience and Education

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence or data analytics projects.
• Experience in client-facing projects is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related analytical fields with experience in data analytics and data science.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Minimum of 5 years in data analytics with a proven track record of handling large datasets and delivering business insights.
• Proficiency in visualization using Google Looker, Looker Studio, and PowerBI.
• Proficiency in writing queries to prove or disprove Looker and PowerBI dashboard figures against raw data.
• Proficiency in BigQuery, Vertex AI, and the GCP suite.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide data product support and data quality assurance.
• Experience with ETL processes and SAP HANA is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in client-facing projects or multicultural environments.

Travel and Work Requirements

• Occasional off-hours work and or holiday work may be required.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong expertise in data validation across multiple sources, root cause analysis, and closing data discrepancies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging of data models and dashboards.
• Looker experience including LookML modeling, dashboard and visualization creation, administration, and governance.
• PowerBI experience including report and dashboard development, dataflows, and data modeling.
• BigQuery experience including creating and optimizing views.
• Excellent SQL and Python skills.
• Proven ability to meet strict commercial deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and overcome technical challenges through research.
• Strong communication skills with both business and technical teams.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing business environments.
• Up-to-date knowledge of best practices and advancements in development and design.
