Job summary

Optum in Hyderabad, India is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to help translate health care data into actionable insights, leveraging SAS/SQL and Python to support cross-business analytics across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid domains.

The role requires extensive experience with SAS/SQL on large data sets, building scalable models, debugging code, and collaborating with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced health care environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Engineering, Economics, or another related technical field from an accredited college or university

Responsibilities

• Understand and interpret the key drivers of health care trends; projecting expected revenue and cost
• Supporting cross-business analytics (Commercial, Medicare, & Medicaid) in developing consistent and appropriate modeling
• Conducting in-depth data extractions and analyses to provide actionable insights and drive decision-making
• Identifying and exploring new areas for analytical development in partnership with key stakeholders
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Shift: 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM IST(02:00 AM to 11:30 AM CST)

Primary Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Engineering, Economics, or another related technical field from an accredited college or university
• 8+ years of relevant work experience in Financial or Insurance domain
• 8+ years of experience as SAS developer with proficient knowledge on UNIX environment
• Extensive experience in building and maintaining SAS based models
• Experience building analytics models using SAS or SQL or other programming system
• Experience in designing and executing complex analyses, including data extraction and analysis using SAS, Python and/or SQL
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements from end users and stakeholders, translating business needs into functional and technical specifications, and supporting the delivery of data and reporting solutions using SAS technologies
• Experience working with large data sets / systems / warehouses using SAS / SQL to translate data into information for decision making
  Extensive knowledge and experience on SAS Enterprise Guide
• Expertise debugging capabilities and resolving the issues while executing the code and automating the process
• Advanced proficiency in SAS (Statistical Analysis System) or SQL (Structure Query Language) or other programming system
• Solid programming skills in Base SAS and Advance SAS(SAS Macros and Proc SQL)
• Proven ability to Run SAS Base programs/jobs which runs on daily/weekly/monthly basis
• Proven ability to fix jobs due to logic/code issues and able to do jobs modifications based on the requirements
• Proven ability to analyze the code, understand the purpose, modify the code to run successfully
• Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively and efficiently
• Proven ability to create and maintain efficient and scalable models
• Proven good communication skills and interact to the customers on frequent basis
• Proven solid written and verbal communication skills and experience interacting with senior management
