Job summary

BCT Consulting is seeking a Senior Dashboard Developer to translate business requirements into scalable Power BI dashboards. You will design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade dashboards, working with data from a warehouse, OneLake, or Snowflake, and collaborating with Data Engineering.

You will develop robust data models, DAX measures, and ETL scripts, optimise performance, and ensure UX aligns with the GIM framework. Strong SQL and RLS experience required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Power BI development.
• Advanced SQL (T-SQL/ANSI) and strong DAX.
• Experience with Power Query (M), data modelling, and performance optimisation.
• Experience implementing Row Level Security (RLS).
• Hands-on experience with ETL processes and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade Power BI dashboards.
• Collaborate with data engineers to integrate data from the data warehouse, OneLake, or Snowflake.
• Develop data models, DAX measures, and efficient transformations.
• Develop ETL scripts to ingest and structure data for reporting (Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Databricks, PySpark).
• Optimize Power BI dashboards for performance, usability, and maintainability.
• Ensure dashboard UX follows the style guide and GIM framework.
• Conduct unit testing, peer reviews, SIT/UAT support, and defect resolution.
• Produce documentation: Design Specs, User Guides, Release Notes, and Process Docs.
• Contribute to development standards, Agile practices, and Jira processes.
• Identify data issues or process inefficiencies and contribute to resolution.
• Support Q&A, AI features, and advanced analytics adoption.

The Senior Dashboard Developer is responsible for translating business requirements into intuitive, scalable, and visually consistent Power BI dashboards. They will participate in briefing sessions, build prototypes and mock‑ups, and refine them into production‑ready dashboards supported by strong data modelling and performance optimisation. Success requires technical depth in BI development, strong analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑moving environment.

Design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade Power BI dashboards

• Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and produce prototypes (mock‑ups, spreadsheets, initial PBIX models).
• Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to integrate data from the data warehouse, OneLake, or Snowflake.
• Build robust data models, DAX measures, and efficient transformations using Power Query (M).
• Develop ETL scripts to ingest and structure data for reporting, including support for modern pipelines (e.g., Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Databricks, PySpark).
• Optimise Power BI dashboards for high performance, usability, and maintainability.
• Ensure dashboard UX follows the established style guide and aligns with the GIM reporting framework.
• Conduct unit testing, peer reviews, support SIT/UAT, and ensure defect resolution.
• Produce essential documentation: Design Specs, User Guides, Release Notes, and Process Docs.
• Contribute to improvements in development standards, Agile practices, and Jira processes.
• Identify data issues or process inefficiencies and contribute to resolution.
• Support the adoption of Q&A, AI features, and advanced analytics in dashboards where applicable.

• Proven experience with Power Query (M), data modelling, and performance optimisation.
• Experience implementing Row Level Security (RLS).
• Strong understanding of data flows from data warehouse to UI.
• Hands‑on experience with ETL processes and tools.
• Experience with source control ( Git).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify patterns and insights in data.
• Skilled in requirements analysis, designing specifications, testing, and documentation.

Nice to Have (Technical Skills & Experience)

• Experience with OneLake/Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse, or Dataflows Gen2.
• Experience with SQL optimisation and modelling.
• Hands‑on experience with Python or PySpark for analysis.
• Familiarity with data science concepts.
• Experience with KQL for Log Analytics or Fabric monitoring.
• Familiarity with advanced Power BI features such as AI visuals or Q&A.
