Job Description Summary
As a Senior Control Automation Engineer, you will be working across two engineering disciplines. The role involves developing organizational talent and engineering process management, providing technical guidance and mentoring, driving consistent design practices, establishing common global processes for project implementation, and delivering technical solutions that meet NPI, project delivery, and tender objectives. You will lead the requirement, design, implementation, and development of digital control systems for the HVDC Control & Protection system.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall technical solution that meets customer requirements based on reference solutions
- Lead requirement and design activities
- Develop overall control system architecture and communication networks
- Architect IEC 61850 implementation, system integration, and system deployment
- Implement overall system‑level cybersecurity
- Design overall network of the control & protection system
- Interface with customers and deliver training
- Own all aspects of HVDC IEC 61850 implementation, system deployment, configuration, and validation
- Implement and maintain control & protection system reference and customer solutions
- Analyze and evaluate assigned projects to meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and product/program requirements
- Coach and develop department talent, applying judgment to solve moderately complex tasks
- Apply technical experience to data analysis for recommendations
- Continuously improve product delivery speed, stability, and reliability
- Ensure security and compliance standards are considered in design decisions
- Review and approve design documents and ensure quality deliverables on time within cost targets
Qualifications
- Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong background in configuring Substation Bay Controllers, Merging Units, and IEC 61850 IEDs
- Minimum 15 years of experience in control and protection system design
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks (IEC 61850, Ethernet‑based protocols)
- Experience with control and protection relay logics and electrical design techniques for industrial control systems
- Knowledge of communication networks, security/hardening, and cybersecurity best practices
- Excellent knowledge of Layer‑2/3 protocols (IPv4, OSPF, LACP, DMZ, VPN, DNP, IEC, Modbus)
- Experience relevant to electrical power systems and substation automation engineering
- Working knowledge of industrial and utility electrical control and protection systems and digital control systems, substation automation, and SCADA
