Job summary

Guidehouse India is seeking qualified medical coders to accurately transform diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will ensure timely turnaround, maintain high accuracy, and adhere to client guidelines while collaborating with the coding team.

The role requires 2-3 years of experience in medical coding, with strong interpretation skills and familiarity with EMR systems. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities are provided at our Chennai office.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to interpret medical records of patients in different specialties.

• Proficient in coding medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions, especially ER coding.

Responsibilities

• Accurately transforms diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure daily coding volumes are turned around within Turnaround Time.
• Maintain operational quality and productivity per client guidelines.
• Interact with Team Lead for feedback and align with QA requirements.
• Meet monthly targets with above 95% accuracy.
• Participate in weekly QA/Team meetings and follow information security policy.

• Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into designated alphanumerical codes in ICD-10-CM , CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure that the daily coding volumes for the team are turned around accurately within the specified Turnaround Time.
• Checking input volumes allotted by TL
• Coding reports as per client guidelines and coding guidelines by maintaining operational quality and productivity.
• Regular interaction with TL and getting feedbacks.
• This position requires that one performs well independently and in a collaborative manner with their entire coding team.
• Understands in detail the workflow, procedures and specific criteria for the assigned client.
• Ensures he/she meets the monthly target with above 95% accuracy consistently
• Attend the Weekly QA / Team meetings without fail and respond in two way communication with the Quality analyst/Team Lead.
• Shall understand and abide by the organizations’ information security policy and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information assets.
• Shall report incidents related to security of information to concerned authorities.

What You Will Need

• Any Life science, Paramedical Graduates and Post Graduates
• Minimum Experience: 2-3 year experience.
• Basic Skill set:
• Strong ability to interpret medical records of the patients in different specialties.
• Ability to communicate, have excellent interpersonal, listening skills and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
• Good analytic skills and expertise to be proficient in accurately coding medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions especially emergency room coding, exposure to radiology , Trauma Surgery work types.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Proficiency in MS Office/excel
• Experience in coding software or encoder (3M, Trucode, Optum)
• Familiarity with HER/EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, etc.,)
• Knowledge of multiple coding specialties (ED,EM (OP&IP), etc
