Job summary

Guidehouse India is hiring a medical coder to translate diagnoses into ICD-10-CM/CPT codes with high accuracy. The role requires adherence to client guidelines, QA processes and secure handling of information. You will work within a collaborative coding team to meet tight turnaround times.

Ideal candidates have life sciences backgrounds, 2–3 years of experience, and familiarity with EMR systems. The position is based in Hyderabad with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to interpret medical records of patients in different specialties.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions, especially ER coding.
• Exposure to radiology and Shock Trauma (Surgery) workflows.

Responsibilities

• Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into alphanumerical codes (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS).
• Ensure daily coding volumes for the team meet turnaround times.
• Check input volumes allotted by TL.
• Code reports per client guidelines maintaining quality and productivity.
• Interact with TL and receive feedback regularly.
• Work independently and collaboratively with the coding team.
• Understand workflow, procedures and criteria for the client.
• Meet monthly targets with >95% accuracy.
• Attend weekly QA/Team meetings and communicate with QA/Team Lead.
• Adhere to information security policy and protect information assets.
• Report incidents related to information security.

• Ensure that the daily coding volumes for the team are turned around accurately within the specified Turnaround Time.
• Checking input volumes allotted by TL
• Coding reports as per client guidelines and coding guidelines by maintaining operational quality and productivity.
• Regular interaction with TL and getting feedbacks.
• This position requires that one performs well independently and in a collaborative manner with their entire coding team.
• Understands in detail the workflow, procedures and specific criteria for the assigned client.
• Ensures he/she meets the monthly target with above 95% accuracy consistently
• Attend the Weekly QA / Team meetings without fail and respond in two way communication with the Quality analyst/Team Lead.
• Shall understand and abide by the organizations’ information security policy and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information assets.
• Shall report incidents related to security of information to concerned authorities.

What You Will Need

• Any Life science, Paramedical Graduates and Post Graduates
• Minimum Experience: 2-3 year experience.
• Basic Skill set:
• Strong ability to interpret medical records of the patients in different specialties.
• Ability to communicate, have excellent interpersonal, listening skills and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
• Good analytic skills and expertise to be proficient in accurately coding medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions especially emergency room coding, exposure to radiology , Shock Trauma (Surgery) work types.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Proficiency in MS Office/excel
• Experience in coding software or encoder (3M, Trucode, Optum)
• Familiarity with HER/EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, etc.,)
• Knowledge of multiple coding specialties (ED,EM (OP&IP), etc
