Job summary

Guidehouse India is seeking a medical coder to accurately translate diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will help maintain target turnaround times, ensure quality, and collaborate with the coding team under supervision of the Team Lead.

The role requires Life Science/Paramedical graduates with 2–3 years of experience, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in coding systems (ICD-10-CM, CPT). On-site in Chennai.

Qualifications

• Life science/Paramedical graduates or post graduates required.
• Strong ability to interpret medical records across specialties.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy in medical coding.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions, esp. ER coding and radiology.

Responsibilities

• Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure daily coding volumes meet turnaround times.
• Review input volumes with TL and align with team.
• Code reports per client and coding guidelines, maintaining quality and productivity.
• Interact with TL for feedback and collaboration with the coding team.
• Understand workflow and criteria for assigned client.
• Meet monthly targets with >95% accuracy.
• Participate in QA/Team meetings and communicate with QA/Team Lead.

• Ensure that the daily coding volumes for the team are turned around accurately within the specified Turnaround Time.
• Checking input volumes allotted by TL
• Coding reports as per client guidelines and coding guidelines by maintaining operational quality and productivity.
• Regular interaction with TL and getting feedbacks.
• This position requires that one performs well independently and in a collaborative manner with their entire coding team.
• Understands in detail the workflow, procedures and specific criteria for the assigned client.
• Ensures he/she meets the monthly target with above 95% accuracy consistently
• Attend the Weekly QA / Team meetings without fail and respond in two way communication with the Quality analyst/Team Lead.
• Shall understand and abide by the organizations’ information security policy and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information assets.
• Shall report incidents related to security of information to concerned authorities.

What You Will Need

• Any Life science, Paramedical Graduates and Post Graduates
• Minimum Experience: 2-3 year experience.
• Basic Skill set:
• Strong ability to interpret medical records of the patients in different specialties.
• Ability to communicate, have excellent interpersonal, listening skills and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
• Good analytic skills and expertise to be proficient in accurately coding medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions especially emergency room coding, exposure to radiology , Radiology work types.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Proficiency in MS Office/excel
• Experience in coding software or encoder (3M, Trucode, Optum)
• Familiarity with HER/EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, etc.,)
• Knowledge of multiple coding specialties (ED,EM (OP&IP), etc
