Job summary

Guidehouse India is seeking a medical coder to convert diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes with precision and on-time turnaround.

You will maintain quality and productivity, review input volumes with the team lead, and participate in QA/weekly team meetings to ensure accuracy above 95% and timely delivery of coding work across the department in Chennai.

Qualifications

• Life science or paramedical graduate with 2+ years' experience.
• Certified by AAPC or AHIMA (CPC/COC/CCS).
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to code with speed and accuracy, including emergency room coding (ED).

Responsibilities

• Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure daily coding volumes meet turnaround times while maintaining quality.
• Interact with team lead and QA, attend weekly meetings, and maintain 95%+ accuracy.
• Meet monthly targets and collaborate with the coding team.

What You Will Do:

Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into designated alphanumerical codes in ICD-10-CM , CPT and HCPCS codes. Ensure that the daily coding volumes for the team are turned around accurately within the specified Turnaround Time. Checking input volumes allotted by TL Coding reports as per client guidelines and coding guidelines by maintaining operational quality and productivity. Regular interaction with TL and getting feedbacks. This position requires that one performs well independently and in a collaborative manner with their entire coding team. Understands in detail the workflow, procedures and specific criteria for the assigned client. Ensures he/she meets the monthly target with above 95% accuracy consistently Attend the Weekly QA / Team meetings without fail and respond in two way communication with the Quality analyst/Team Lead.

What You Will Need:

Any Life science, Paramedical Graduates and Post Graduates Minimum Experience: 2+ year experience. Strong ability to interpret medical records of the patients in different specialties. Must be certified from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, COC, CCS) Ability to communicate, have excellent interpersonal, listening skills and organizational skills. Ability to work with speed and accuracy. Good analytic skills and expertise to be proficient in accurately coding medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions especially emergency room coding, ED with EM & Injection & Infusion work types.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

Proficiency in MS Office Knowledge in coding softwares like 3M, Encoder Pro
