Job summary

Qualifications

• 7+ years of COBOL development experience on IBM z/OS Mainframe.
• Expertise in VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS) and Db2 (SQL, DCLGEN, BIND/REBIND).
• Strong proficiency in JCL and mainframe utilities (IDCAMS, IEBGENER, SORT, etc.).
• Proven skills in COBOL performance tuning, including Db2 indexing strategies and I/O optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade COBOL applications interacting with VSAM datasets and Db2 databases.
• Analyze and optimize program performance with a focus on I/O efficiency and throughput.
• Create and fine‑tune SQL queries and Db2 access paths for high‑performance transaction and batch workloads.
• Manage and optimize VSAM clusters for efficient data access and storage.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and QA teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data access, performance, and batch execution.
• Document technical designs, workflows, and configurations for maintainability.

About the Role
