Job summary

Pitch Black is seeking an experienced Senior Tracking/Matchmove Artist to lead high-end 3D camera reconstruction and matchmove work. You will perform manual camera tracks in Maya, use object solves to improve quality and speed, and address creative feedback across shots in a collaborative studio environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in production in tracking/matchmove roles, strong body matchmove and shot sculpting skills, and proficiency with Maya, 3D Equalizer, and Nuke.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production experience in a Tracking/Matchmove Artist role.
• Proficiency in body matchmove and shot sculpting.
• Excellent knowledge of camera and lenses.
• Proficient in Maya and 3D Equalizer; Nuke experience.

Job Description

• Senior level 3D camera reconstruction and high level matchmove work
• Comfortable completing manual camera tracks and matchmoves in Maya
• Utilize object solves to increase quality and speed
• Able to address creative feedback regarding matchmove work
• Have a solid knowledge of the tools and software used in rotoanimation.
• Be comfortable with character armatures.
• Can help artists find appropriate and effective working techniques.
• Can contribute directly to the technical learning of the members of his team.
• Communicate with other departments as needed.
• Help junior and intermediate artists with issues occasionally
• Notify leads of any concern with workload/timelines
• Help provide feedback for tools/development

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production experience in a Tracking/Matchmove Artist role
• Experience in layout is a plus
• Must be proficient in body matchmove and shot sculpting
• Proficiency 3D Equalizer and Maya
• Proficient in Nuke
• Photogrammetry/lidar skills a plus
• Experience working with little to no set data
• High level of knowledge of camera and lenses.
• Able to create geometry by using survey points.
• Understanding of real-world camera attributes such as apertures, lenses and distortion.
• Ability to work effectively with teammates and Supervisors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
