Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation is seeking an experienced engineer to strengthen the structural robustness of products via LS-Dyna simulations. You will convert real-world problems into simulation models, run explicit/implicit analyses and report findings

You will mentor others, coordinate with cross-functional teams and drive design suggestions based on FE results for our GTEC centre in India.

Qualifications

• Educational: ME/M.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile/Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience: 6-10 years in structural FEA and simulation.
• Proficiency with LS-Dyna, HyperMesh, and Ansys Workbench required.

Responsibilities

• Convert physical problems to simulation setups with proper BCs.
• Run structural simulations, analyze results and report conclusions.
• Suggest design improvements based on FEA findings.
• Lead challenging projects and mentor teammates.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and document knowledge.

The team you will be a part of

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This role in summary

Responsible for supporting in improvement of structural robustness of Products/Projects through explicit & implicit LS-Dyna Simulations

Your responsibilities will include

• Can convert a physical / field problem into a simulation problem (BC definition) independently
• Perform the Structural simulations, analyze the results, and prepare a proper report with appropriate conclusions and suggestions to improve the product performance
• Good at result interpretation, may need help with design solutions
• Independently handle challenging projects and deliver solutions to stakeholders
• Can mentor other team members in critical problems
• Coordinate with different functions and stakeholders for project discussions
• Pro-active knowledge documentation and sharing

Minimum requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : M.E/M.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile/Aerospace Engineering.

EXPERIENCE: 6-10 years

Technical Expertise

• Expert in LS Dyna , LS Prepost, explicit and implicit analysis, sub-assembly and assembly level simulation
• Proficient in Hypermesh - 2D plastic shell meshing and 3D hex/tet meshing
• Aware of Ansys Workbench , Structural linear, non linear simulation.

Required Technical Experience

• Finite element modeling and analysis using LS Dyna and LS Prepost. Candidates should have hands- on experience with challenging explicit and implicit analysis projects
• Experience in complex material modeling and selection
• Awareness/hands-on FSI using ALE or SPH modeling
• Awareness/hands-on LS TaSC / LS OPT is preferred
• Should have very good knowledge of FEM theory and numerical methods
• Should have experience in providing logical and feasible design suggestions based on FEA analysis
• Experience in the selection of element type, mesh size, material properties, element quality check, and selection of the right material models and parameters
• Awareness/hands-on experience with Six Sigma tools and practices is preferred
• Awareness/hands-on experience with automation is preferred
• Experience in interpreting and understanding FEA results, post- processing, and preparing comprehensive analysis reports with design solutions
• Expertise in 2D/3D FE modeling in HyperMesh for aero-engine/turbomachinery/automotive/heavy engineering components is preferred

• Knowledge of the Strength of Materials, Fracture Mechanics, and Impact Dynamics
• Proficient understanding of material modeling and product testing
• Proficiency in Simulation tools like Hypermesh, LS-Dyna, Ansys, etc.
• Results interpretation skills.
• Knowledge of instruments used in physical test measurements (for eg, strain gauge, accelerometer etc.)

MANAGERIAL

• Proficient in Soft skills
• Should have experience in global interaction.
