Job summary

Benteler Engineering Chennai is seeking a Senior Design Engineer CAD to drive CAD design for automotive components using CATIA V5. You will develop concepts, create 3D models and 2D drawings, and manage CAD data in Windchill/PLM, with a focus on sheet metal parts and GD&T.

The role requires 5–8 years of CAD experience in automotive engineering, strong drafting skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on ECRs and project deliverables.

Qualifications

• BE Mechanical or Automobile engineering.
• 5–8 years CAD experience with CATIA V5 in automotive industry.
• Experience with Windchill/PLM and CAD data management.
• Strong knowledge of 2D drafting and 3D modelling techniques.
• Familiarity with GD&T and sheet metal design considerations.

Responsibilities

Senior Design Engineer CAD

Job Responsibilities

• Concept development, modelling, drafting and detailing of the automotive components in CATIA V5
• Preparing the drawings according to the internal and external requirements
• Create initial data base structure in Windchill / PLM for drawings, models and supporting documents (BOM)
• Maintaining Engineering Change Records (ECR's), inclusive 3D & 2D record management
• Supporting Interdisciplinary design work shops (Project Management, Quality, Cost estimation, Process Planning, Tool & Die press shop, CAE.)

Required Skill Set

• Good understanding of design and engineering fundamentals, GD&T
• Very Good working knowledge of CATIA V5 and experience in sheet metal parts designing is a must.
• Able to provide Engineering design solutions for analysis targets by meeting the defined requirements
• Experience in Windchill/ PLM is required
• Good knowledge of 2D and 3D Modelling / Drafting
• Good communication, team player, result oriented and problem solving attitude

Required Qualification

1. Minimum qualification- Graduate with BE-Mechanical/ Automobile
2. Minimum 5-8 years of work experience in CAD with Catia V5 in automotive Industry.
