Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a focus on business application architecture in re/insurance.

• University degree in data engineering, computer science, technology management, or equivalent.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

About the Role

As a Senior / Lead Business Application Architect at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo), you will be a key force in shaping how our core business applications are designed, integrated, and evolved. You'll bridge the gap between business strategy and technology execution - ensuring our application architecture is not only fit for today but built for tomorrow. This is a high-impact role where your architectural vision will directly influence CorSo's digital transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the CorSo enterprise application architecture framework, ensuring alignment with business strategy and IT roadmap
• Establish architectural standards, patterns, and principles across core insurance domains to drive end-to-end consistency, scalability, and interoperability
• Lead the design and integration of business-critical systems in close collaboration with solution architects and delivery teams
• Provide architecture oversight throughout the full project lifecycle - from conception through implementation and beyond
• Collaborate with business leads, product owners, and data and technology architects to translate strategic goals into actionable technology solutions
• Identify and champion opportunities for process automation, application modernization, and rationalization
• Promote modern architecture principles, including AI-driven approaches and cloud-native thinking

About the Team

The CorSo Architecture team sits within Digital & Technology CorSo, part of the broader Swiss Re digital and technology organization (GDTO). The team is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the adoption of CorSo's Digital & Technology Strategy. It owns and supports key business architecture artefacts, architecture decisions, and governance processes. Working closely with Group Enterprise Architecture, the team maintains critical assets such as business portfolio overviews, application portfolio roadmaps, and information flow diagrams linked to group-wide business capabilities and processes - making it a central pillar of CorSo's technology landscape.

You are a seasoned architecture professional who brings a compelling blend of strategic insight, technical depth, and strong interpersonal skills. You're someone who can navigate complexity with confidence, inspire trust across business and IT stakeholders, and turn ambitious goals into concrete architectural outcomes. You're curious, collaborative, and energized by the challenge of modernizing enterprise systems in a dynamic, global environment.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a strong focus on business application architecture within the re/insurance industry
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing information management solutions, with emphasis on data integration and strategy execution
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and the ability to define and apply architectural standards, patterns, and principles across complex application landscapes
• University degree in data engineering, computer science, technology management, or equivalent professional experience
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) with strong communication and relationship-building skills across business and IT functions

These are additional nice to haves

• TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture qualification
• Hands-on experience with cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including hybrid or multi-cloud environments
• Familiarity with AI-driven architecture approaches and their application in enterprise settings
• Demonstrated ability to manage risk, drive innovation, and deliver results in fast-paced, priority-driven environments
• Experience working in global, matrixed organizations and collaborating across cross-functional teams
