Job summary

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to drive end-to-end requirements for the Group Payments Service Line. • Understanding regulatory and scheme requirements, ISO 20022 and payments standards.
• Experience improving payment flow accuracy, process efficiency and hand-offs.
• Stakeholder management across Business, Product, Technology, Risk and Financial Crime.
• Experience supporting platform migrations and capability uplift initiatives.
• Delivery-focused with emphasis on business value and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end requirements gathering across business, technology and ops.
• Produce high-quality requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and data mapping.
• Ensure alignment to payment scheme rules and regulatory expectations.
• Analyse impacts across upstream/downstream services and settlement processes.
• Support backlog refinement and scope shaping with POs/ILs/SLOs.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and analysts to ensure feasibility.
• Partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance and customer tribes.
• Support scheme readiness and enterprise programs intersecting with payments.

About the Role

• The Business Analyst (BA) is the analytical engine and delivery enabler for a Group Payments Service Line.
• They are accountable for shaping clear, end-to-end requirements, collaborating deeply with business, operations and technology stakeholders, and ensuring change is safe, resilient, and aligned to the Payments operating model.
• BAs translate complex payment flows, regulatory obligations, scheme rules, customer needs, organisational polices and technical constraints into actionable requirements and process artefacts, and acceptance criteria that enable high-quality delivery.
• Aligned to a Service Line and working closely with technical delivery squads, BAs ensure the work is defined, understood, testable, supportable, and traceable — from inception through to release and operational readiness.

What will your day look like?

• Lead end-to-end requirements gathering across business, technology, operations, architecture, risk and financial crime.
• Produce high-quality requirements/user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, business rules, data mapping, and payment-flow documentation.
• Ensure requirements align to payment scheme rules, regulatory expectations, operational resilience, control frameworks, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Analyse impacts across upstream/downstream services, channels, data flows, settlement processes, reconciliation, and support models.
• Support Product Owners (POs)/Initiative Leads (ILs), Service Line Owners (SLOs) with backlog refinement, prioritisation and scope shaping.
• Work with engineers, architects, and system analysts to ensure requirements are feasible, technically aligned, and ready for build.
• Partner with Technology Domains, Engineering, Systems Analysts, Operations, Risk, Financial Crime, Schemes, Compliance, and Customer tribes.
• Support scheme readiness (SWIFT, Cards and domestic payment rails in the respective jurisdictions), regulatory uplift, remediation work and enterprise programs that intersect with payments.
• Payments Architecture / SMEs: process flows, design alignment, scheme & ISO20022 impacts

• Experience supporting platform migrations, technology simplification, and capability uplift initiatives.
