Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Senior Business System Engineer - Application Development in Pune to analyze and solve moderately complex business problems with automated systems. You will design, develop, test, and document .NET and SharePoint solutions while coordinating with QA, ERP, DBAs, and operations across global teams.

You will participate in agile ceremonies, mentor teammates, and drive change management practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of .NET development experience in a team environment.
• 2+ years in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Prompt Engineering proficiency: ability to design, test, and optimize prompts for AI-assisted development.
• API knowledge: design, integration, and consumption of RESTful/web APIs.
• Experience with ChatGPT Codex and Claude Cowork for AI-assisted development.
• Proficiency in at least one RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
• Experience with version control (SVN or Git).
• Excel macros (VBA/VBS).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Works with team to deliver solutions according to requirements defined by business.

• Ensure operational controls are maintained.
• Perform reports on operating control self-assessments.
• Lead design, build, implementation, unit tests, and code reviews.

• Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, releases, and retrospectives.
• Support SharePoint and .NET applications for major projects; assist operations with issues and bug fixes.
• Design, build and test .NET solutions; document changes; coordinate testing requirements.
• Manage activities delivering .NET apps, prioritize workloads, guide team; oversee GNOC network team.
• Mentor Network/GNOC technicians on problem solving; provide training.
• Maintain skills in SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI.
• Analyze and report performance issues; implement improvements; act as Level-2/3 support.
• Provide innovative solutions.
• Maintain inventory of all managed applications; understand SharePoint architecture.
• Collaborate with IT Operations and other teams to ensure high systems availability.
• Practice change, incident, and technology management; use ServiceNow/JIRA.
• Utilize standard tools to track, monitor, repair, and improve network services.
• Create high quality SharePoint/.NET documentation and drawings; maintain version control.

Avantor is looking for Sr. Business System Engineer - Application Development who can analyze moderately complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements. Configure system settings and options, executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and assists in creating specifications for systems to meet business requirements. Designs details of automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Works with respective team members and/or management to deliver solutions according to requirements defined and prioritized by VWRs business.
• Acts as a Developer between the quality assurance team, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) team, DBAs, operations, and support team to meet milestones in a lean and agile manner.
• Ensure operational controls are maintained.
• Perform report on operating control self-assessments.
• As part of a project team, performs design, build, implementation, unit tests, and code review.
• Translates functional requirements into conceptual and detailed designs; Provides estimates for development effort; Implements proof of concept, prototypes, and production-grade software; writes unit tests; fully documents code; and coordinates with testing requirements from QA/Test.
• As needed and according to agile development methodologies, participate in iterative development including sprint planning, daily scrum, release, and retrospective meetings.
• Supports VWRs SharePoint and .NET Applications for major project implementations, enhancements, and break-fix requirements. Assists Operations and Support staff in trouble-shooting software issues as well as implementing bug fixes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Design, build and test .NET solutions with basic. ChatGPT/Copilot and Claude. Document all system changes in line with the standard processes. Conduct Unit testing of configuration changes and drive integration /regression testing.
• Manage activities involved in delivering .NET applications by prioritizing workloads as well as providing guidance and direction to other team members. Oversee GNOC network team globally
• Mentor Network / GNOC technicians on problem solving and troubleshooting SharePoint related issues. Provide operational and technical training to team members.
• Maintain superior technical skills in an enterprise environment for managing SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI technologies
• Analyze and report any Performance issues, recommend and implement improvements globally as needed. Act as Level-2/Level-3 for support issues.
• Provide innovative solutions.
• Help maintain accurate inventory of all applications maintained under management. Understands SharePoint architecture and support functions globally
• Understand VWRs business model and how Infrastructure Operations Support directly influences our capabilities to conduct daily business operations.
• Collaborate with IT Operations Team colleagues on best practice solutions
• Collaborate with all other Infrastructure Operations Support Teams to ensure high systems availability, capacity and expected levels of performance.
• Practice consistent Change Management, Incident Management and Technology Management and in a professional and effective manner.
• Utilize VWR standard toolsets such as ServiceNow, JIRA and others to track, monitor, repair, and improve network services.
• Create high quality SharePoint and .NET documentation and drawings and practice disciplined version control
