Job summary

Mindflix AI in Bengaluru, part of Cogniflix Artificial Intelligence Pvt Ltd, seeks a hands‑on Senior Backend Engineer to own backend services end to end—from API design to deployment and production support.

Cogniflix Artificial Intelligence Pvt Ltd (Mindflix AI) is building the next generation of AI-powered personalisation and engagement systems across voice, conversational interfaces and real-time intelligence. Our platform combines Generative AI, deep learning and scalable backend infrastructure to enable human-like interactions at production scale.

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Backend Engineer to own backend services end to end, from API design and data modelling through deployment, monitoring and production support.

Mindflix AI is currently based in Bangalore and is being built with a global outlook, including a Singapore company structure to support international expansion, enterprise partnerships and future growth.

This is a hands‑on individual‑contributor role, not a people‑management position.

You will spend your time writing production code, making architecture decisions and keeping systems reliable in production. You will work closely with product, AI, frontend and DevOps teams to turn evolving requirements into scalable, secure and maintainable backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate backend services that handle production traffic reliably.
• Own API contracts, data models and service boundaries, and evolve them as requirements change.
• Write maintainable, tested and production‑ready code using Python or Go.
• Build asynchronous workflows, queues, background workers and event‑driven services.
• Improve deployment, CI/CD and infrastructure automation to make releases fast and safe.
• Instrument services with logs, metrics and traces, and use them to diagnose production issues.
• Participate in the on‑call rotation for the systems you build.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement durable fixes.
• Break ambiguous product requirements into scoped and shippable technical work.
• Review peer designs and code, and improve engineering standards across the team.
• Take ownership of services from design and development through deployment, validation and ongoing support.

Must Have

• 5-6+ years of experience building and operating production software as an individual contributor.
• Demonstrated end‑to‑end ownership of backend services from design through deployment and production support.
• Strong hands‑on development experience with Python or Go.
• Experience writing maintainable and tested code and diagnosing performance or concurrency issues.
• Experience designing APIs, data models and distributed services that remain reliable as traffic, data volume or complexity increases.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and Redis or equivalent technologies.
• Understanding of schema design, query optimisation, caching strategies and production database troubleshooting.
• Experience with asynchronous or event‑driven systems, queues, background workers or streaming.
• Ability to reason about failures, retries, idempotency and recovery behaviour.
• Experience deploying and operating containerised services on AWS, GCP or an equivalent cloud platform.
• Experience making practical scalability, availability, performance and infrastructure‑cost trade‑offs.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code or equivalent tools.
• Experience owning production services through incidents and on‑call responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of observability using logs, metrics, traces, dashboards and alerts.
• Ability to convert ambiguous requirements into pragmatic technical designs without unnecessary complexity.

Good to Have

• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, Gin or similar backend frameworks.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Pub/Sub, Celery or similar messaging and worker systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, GKE or other container‑orchestration platforms.
• Experience with Terraform, Pulumi or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Experience building multi‑tenant SaaS platforms or high‑throughput distributed systems.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorisation, role‑based access and API‑security practices.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus or similar observability tools.
• Exposure to AI‑powered products, LLM integrations, conversational systems or real‑time communication platforms.
• Experience with durable workflow‑orchestration systems such as Temporal.
