Job summary

Level AI is seeking a backend engineer to design and deliver scalable features for our AI-powered contact center platform. You will use Python with Django and FastAPI, work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and real-time systems, and help implement REST APIs and streaming services.

Remote role requiring EST timezone coverage to support US customers. You will collaborate across teams, apply best practices, and contribute to architecture decisions while growing with a fast-moving startup.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech from top engineering institutes with relevant work experience.
• 3–6 years of backend experience; Python preferred.
• Experience in Django is highly desirable.
• Experience with FastAPI, MongoDB, real-time or streaming backends, and LLM-backed search/RAG is a plus.
• Good understanding of relational databases, data management, and REST API design.
• Some ML/NLP experience would be preferable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong CS fundamentals.
• Able to work in the EST timezone to support US customers.

Competencies: Python, Django, FastAPI, Relational database understanding (viz: PostgreSQL, SQL), MongoDB, ETL, Database design, Strong experience in designing REST APIs, real-time/streaming systems (WebSockets, gRPC), search/RAG, Cache, Redis, Celery, CI/CD, GCP, Kubernetes and Docker.

Requirements

• Qualification: B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech from top Engineering institutes with relevant work experience with a top technology company.
• Minimum 3-6 years of backend experience. Experience in at least one higher-level language, preferably Python.
• Experience in Django is highly desirable.
• Experience with FastAPI, MongoDB, real-time or streaming backends, and LLM-backed search/RAG is a plus.
• Good understanding of relational databases, data management, and REST API design.
• Some machine learning experience in the context of NLP would be preferable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Possess an extremely sound understanding of areas in the basic areas of Computer Science such as Algorithms, Data Structures, Object Oriented Design, Databases.
• Able to work in EST Timezone in order to add technical coverage to US customers
