Job summary

Dr. Sudha's Ayurveda Kendra in New Delhi is seeking a Senior Ayurveda Physician to head clinical care for OPD and IPD, lead Panchakarma treatment planning and supervise therapists. You will mentor junior doctors, uphold NABH AYUSH standards, and maintain high-quality documentation.

The role reports to Medical Director, is full-time and on-site at Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi, with a strong emphasis on clinical outcomes and autonomous practice within the hospital.

Qualifications

• BAMS from a recognised institution, with MD (Ayurveda) preferably in Kayachikitsa or Panchakarma.
• Valid registration with NCISM / Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad or equivalent, transferable to Delhi.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience, including hands-on Panchakarma supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed OPD consultations with classical and contemporary clinical reasoning.
• Interpret investigations and decide on referrals or emergency care when needed.
• Prescribe and monitor internal medications, lifestyle guidance, and follow-up intervals.
• Manage inpatient care: rounds, progress notes, discharge planning and post-discharge follow-up.
• Design Panchakarma protocols and supervise procedures and staff.
• Maintain NABH AYUSH compliant medical records and infection-control practices.
• Mentor junior doctors and therapy staff; coordinate with nursing, pharmacy and admin.

About us

Dr. Sudha's Ayurveda Kendra is an NABH-accredited Ayurveda hospital in South Delhi offering classical Ayurvedic consultation, supervised Panchakarma and inpatient care. The facility has 10 inpatient rooms and 7 dedicated treatment rooms, a team of around 30, and an outpatient load of roughly 40 patients a day. We practise classical Ayurveda with modern clinical documentation, protocol discipline and measurable outcomes.

Role summary

We are looking for an experienced Ayurveda physician to lead clinical care across OPD and IPD someone who can carry a full consultation practice, design and supervise Panchakarma treatment plans, mentor junior doctors and therapists, and hold the clinical standards that our accreditation depends on. This is a senior role with real ownership of clinical outcomes, not a purely consultative one.

Key responsibilities

Clinical practice

• Conduct detailed OPD consultations, including Nadi Pariksha, Ashtavidha / Dashavidha Pariksha and history-taking, and arrive at diagnoses grounded in both classical and contemporary clinical reasoning.
• Interpret laboratory and imaging investigations, and recognise when a patient needs allopathic referral or emergency care and make that call without hesitation.
• Prescribe and monitor internal medication, pathya-apathya, lifestyle and dinacharya guidance, with clear follow-up intervals.
• Manage inpatient care: daily rounds, progress notes, treatment escalation or de-escalation, discharge planning and post-discharge follow-up.

Panchakarma and therapy oversight

• Design individualised Panchakarma protocols Purvakarma, Pradhanakarma and Paschatkarma with defined duration, dosage and endpoints.
• Supervise therapists during procedures, verify technique and dosage, and review daily therapy records.
• Manage complications and adverse events, and document them per hospital protocol.

Clinical governance and NABH compliance

• Maintain complete, legible, timely medical records in line with NABH AYUSH standards.
• Ensure informed consent, patient rights, infection-control and medication-safety practices are followed on the floor, not just on paper.
• Participate in clinical audits, mortality/morbidity and incident reviews, quality-indicator tracking and accreditation assessments.
• Contribute to writing and revising standard treatment protocols and SOPs.

Team leadership

• Mentor and supervise junior BAMS physicians, interns and therapy staff; run case discussions and internal training.
• Support therapist skill assessment and continuing education.
• Coordinate with nursing, pharmacy, front office and administration for smooth patient flow.

Practice development

• Build long-term patient relationships and a personal follow-up practice.
• Support patient education, camps, workshops and content initiatives as required.
• Contribute to case documentation, outcome data and any research or publication efforts the hospital undertakes.

Qualifications and registration

Essential

• BAMS from a recognised institution, with MD (Ayurveda) preferably in Kayachikitsa or Panchakarma.
• Valid registration with NCISM / the relevant State Board (Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad or equivalent, transferable to Delhi).
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience, including hands-on Panchakarma supervision.

Preferred

• Prior experience in an NABH-accredited or IPD-based Ayurveda setup.
• Experience mentoring junior clinicians or therapy teams.
• Exposure to specific areas relevant to our patient mix — [e.g. musculoskeletal and pain, metabolic and lifestyle disorders, neurological rehabilitation, skin, gynaecology, geriatrics].

Skills and attributes

• Strong command of classical texts alongside comfort reading modern diagnostics.
• Clear, unhurried communication in Hindi and English; ability to explain a treatment plan to a patient and family in plain language.
• Discipline around documentation — this is non-negotiable in an accredited setup.
• Comfort with hospital software for consultations, prescriptions and records.
• Sound judgement on scope of practice and referral.
