Job summary

Madhi Foundation is seeking a Senior Associate – MEL to strengthen monitoring and impact evaluation across education programs. The role involves designing and executing research, impact evaluations, and pilots to generate actionable insights for program design and policy advocacy.

You will work with internal teams, external partners, and field teams to advance a culture of rigour and learning, with travel within Tamil Nadu as needed, contributing to the data and learning agenda across education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education/Development Studies/Economics/Public Policy.
• 4–6 years in Monitoring & Evaluation, preferably in education or development.
• Experience with Kobo Toolbox and Microsoft Forms.
• Strong data analysis with Stata, R, Python, Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; synthesize data into insights.
• Detail-oriented with commitment to continuous learning.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Senior Associate – MEL will play a key role in strengthening Madhi’s monitoring and impact evaluation. The role involves designing and executing research, impact evaluations, and pilots that generate actionable insights to inform program design and contribute to policy advocacy. The Senior Associate will work closely with internal teams, external research partners, and field teams to create a culture of innovation, rigour and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Evaluation Design & Implementation

• Co-design and support execution of quasi-experimental studies, and implementation of research.
• Develop research frameworks (ToCs, Log frames etc) and tools, aligned with program goals.
• Design and implement research data collection methods such as FGDs, IDIs, surveys, and mixed-method evaluations.
• Manage data collection processes, including enumerator training, field monitoring, and data quality assurance.

2. Data Analysis & Insight Generation

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses using relevant processes – data cleaning, organizing, and statistical methods.
• Synthesize findings into insights, and reports for diverse audiences.
• Create data visualizations and write reports to share with program teams.

4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Coordinate with program teams to ensure timely data collection across different teams.
• Travel to program locations, when required, to support and facilitate field-level data collection (within and outside of Tamil Nadu).
• Actively participate in organizational meetings and contribute to strengthening M&E structures.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in education, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
• Experience: 4–6 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation related roles, ideally within the education or development sector.
• Working knowledge of data collection tools including Kobo Toolbox, and Microsoft Forms.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis (Stata/R/Python/Excel)
• Strong proficiency in creating presentations and working with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights.
• Engage in continuous learning through inquiry.
• Display high attention to detail and excellence in work.
