Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Associate Design Engineer to lead the engineering and design of Solar Turbine Construction Services products.
The role involves deep involvement in FEED, detail engineering, procurement, in-house fabrication, and commissioning activities within Oil & Gas projects. As Senior Associate Design Engineer ,you will be responsible for the Engineering & Design of Solar Turbine’s Construction Services’ Products. You will involve in the design of the Oil & Gas Projects such as Gas Compression stations project , you will demonstrate designing, implementing, and maintaining Structural design within the Oil & Gas industry
The identified candidate will be a member of a cross-functional team that Involves in FEED, Detail engineering, Procurement, inhouse Fabrication and Commissioning activities and ensues all performance metrics are achieved
The candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years of industry experience in engineering / design execution and associated applications. Experience should include significant, demonstrated results leading Structural design efforts supporting industrial gas turbine packaging and associated gas compression and power generation projects and BOP systems engineering and design. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate knowledge of discipline-related industry standards, ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, OSHA etcand have experience with standards application across engineering specifications and vendor documentation. Comprehensive familiarity with CAD software packages supporting Structural design and broad knowledge of design and drafting techniques including framing drawing generation, foundation drawing creations, and details dwg creations.
- Knowledge of Structural Engineering Design Codes & Standards such as ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, OSHA etc
- Exposure to Structural Member design, Connection design, Foundation Design, Pipe Rack design, Loading and load assessment.
- Design and optimization of Pipe rack and Cable tray Support structure Platforms, Ladders, Handrails, Roof Design.
- Strong hands on experience on structural general arrangement drawings, framing plans, foundation plans, sections, elevations, connection details, schedules, and construction or fabrication-related drawing outputs from the Revit model.
- 3D Modelling using Autodesk Advance Steel, Revit.
- Develop and maintain coordinated structural BIM models in Autodesk Revit for steel and concrete structures, including pipe racks, equipment support structures, platforms, access structures, foundations, and miscellaneous steel.
- Model structural framing systems using grids, levels, columns, beams, braces, slabs, walls, foundations, base plates, openings, stairs, ladders, handrails, and structural connections.
- Create, modify, and manage Revit structural families, type catalogues, shared parameters, project parameters, templates, view templates, filters, materials, and object styles.
- Prepare and maintain structural schedules and quantity outputs for members, plates, foundations, inserts, embeds, and other modelled components.
- Coordinate linked architectural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and civil models; perform interference reviews and support clash detection and resolution using Revit and Navisworks.
- Apply model and drawing quality checks covering member sizes, levels, grids, offsets, connectivity, openings, clearances, constructability, drawing consistency, annotations, dimensions, and compliance with project BIM standards.
- Use Revit worksharing, worksets, model linking, copy-monitor, design options, revisions, and issue-management workflows in a multidisciplinary project environment.
- 3D Model Review, Clash Check and Resolution.
- 2D Drawing Generation, generation of Definition Drawings, Foundation drawings.
- Preparation MTO, BOM from Structural 3D Models.
- Preparation of Technical Specification for Structural Components, RFQ finalization & Vendor Drawings review.
- Flexible and quick to learn global developments in EPC- Oil & Gas projects technologies and adopt.
- Continuous improvement of the design activity in terms of technical knowledge, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Provide virtual technical support for shop floor for the orders engineered & commissioning support.

- MTOs/BOMs, NWD models, Clash checks, Vendor Drawing Review.
- Hands-on experience in Autodesk Revit Structure for steel and concrete structural modelling and coordinated drawing production.
- Ability to create and modify Revit structural families, parameters, templates, schedules, tags, annotations, filters, and view standards.
- Proficiency in generating structural GA drawings, framing plans, foundation drawings, sections, elevations, details, schedules, and material quantity outputs from the Revit model.
- Knowledge of multidisciplinary BIM coordination, linked models, worksharing, clash detection, model health checks, issue resolution, and drawing-quality review.
- Ability to check Revit structural models and drawings for design intent, constructability, dimensional accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- Working experience with 3D Design Tools: Advance Steel, Revit, Tekla, STAAD Pro. AutoCad & E3D. Autodesk Revit Structure / Revit BIM.
- Creates structural BIM models using grids, levels, framing, columns, braces, slabs, walls, foundations, openings, stairs, ladders, handrails, and structural connections.
- Develops and maintains Revit structural families, types, shared parameters, templates, view templates, filters, tags, annotations, and schedules.
- Generates coordinated structural plans, sections, elevations, foundation drawings, framing drawings, details, schedules and quantity outputs from the model.
- Coordinates linked multidisciplinary models and supports interference checking, clash detection, issue tracking, and resolution using Revit and Navisworks.
- Performs model and drawing checks for grids, levels, member sizes, connectivity, openings, clearances, dimensions, annotations, revisions, constructability, and data completeness.
MTech/BE/B.Tech/ in Civil/ Structural Engineering from accredited Engineering Institute with8-10 years of Oil and Gas/ Power Plant Experience.
