Job summary

Scientific Games, a global leader in lottery games, sports betting and technology, seeks a skilled 2D Animator to bring characters to life for films, TV, and video games. You will translate storyboards into expressive movement, create dynamic backgrounds, and collaborate with peers to maintain a consistent animation style across projects.

You will mentor junior animators, troubleshoot issues, and add visual effects to elevate artwork.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of animation experience in films, TV, video games, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of animation timing, spacing, squash and stretch, and anticipation.
• Excellent communication and ability to mentor juniors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and animate 2D characters, props, and backgrounds based on storyboards, concept art, and briefs.
• Accurately portray characters' personalities, expressions, and movements through animation.
• Collaborate with the creative team to ensure consistency in animation style and project guidelines.
• Create animatics, layout poses, and in-betweens for smooth character animations.
• Participate in animation reviews and feedback sessions to refine animations.
• Enhance animation quality with effects like rays, glows, and lighting.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams for technical and creative alignment.
• Provide mentorship to junior animators and help grow their skills.
• Troubleshoot animation issues and ensure deliverables meet high standards.
• Contribute to improving workflows and processes for efficiency.

Position Summary Responsibilities

• Develop and animate 2D characters, props, and backgrounds based on storyboards, concept art, and creative briefs.
• Accurately portray characters or objects' personalities, expressions, and movements through dynamic animation.
• Collaborate with the creative team to ensure consistency in animation style and adherence to project guidelines.
• Create animatics, layout poses, and in-betweens to produce smooth and fluid character animations.
• Participate in animation reviews and feedback sessions to refine and iterate on animations.
• Enhance animation quality by adding effects like rays, glows, and lighting to make the artwork more engaging.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure technical and creative alignment.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior animators, helping them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve animation-related issues, ensuring deliverables meet high standards.
• Contribute to improving animation workflows and processes to increase efficiency.

Skills Required

• Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, and Spine 2D.
• Deep understanding of animation principles, including timing, spacing, squash and stretch, and anticipation.
• Experience with particle simulations, visual effects, and physics dynamics.
• Optional: Familiarity with Blender 3D and digital drawing skills.
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to think creatively and solve complex animation challenges.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in related field.

Years of Related Experience: 4 to 8 years in animation (films, TV, video games, or related industries).
