Job summary

Newmark is seeking a Senior Analyst/Subject Matter Expert/Process Lead/Assistant Manager - Property Accountant in Chennai. The role focuses on month-end close, variance analysis, and accurate financial statement reporting for US real estate.

Strong Excel and ERP skills are required, with experience in JDE/Yardi/MRI/Oracle/SAP preferred. The candidate should hold a B.Com/M.Com/MBA-Finance with CPA/CMA/CA (Inter) a plus, and be willing to work US shift hours from 5:00 PM IST / 6:00 PM IST.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of progressive experience in Property Accounting (PA).
• Prior experience in US Real Estate / Property Accounting strongly preferred.
• Strong command of month-end close procedures, including close workpapers, variance analysis, correct income/expense classification, accruals and prepaids, fixed assets, management fees, bad debt analysis, and reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Proven ability to review income statements and balance sheets to identify risks and issues, and to clearly summarize the drivers of financial statement fluxes.
• Sound judgment in reviewing expenses and determining appropriate capitalization versus expense treatment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with US-based stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in an IC capacity, managing end-to-end deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to take on ad hoc projects and special assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close procedures and maintain close workpapers.
• Perform variance analysis and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Assess income statements and balance sheets to identify risks and drivers of financial fluctuations.
• Review expenses for capitalization vs. expense treatment and ensure correct classifications.
• Interact with US-based stakeholders to communicate findings clearly and professionally.
• Utilize MS Excel and ERP systems (JDE, Yardi, MRI, Oracle, SAP) effectively.
• Take ownership of deliverables in an IC role with minimal supervision.
• Support ad hoc projects and special assignments as needed.
