Job summary

Artex Risk Solutions is seeking an actuarial professional to own quarterly profitability reviews, including incurred and ultimate loss ratios, and to forecast IBNR. The role involves monitoring profitability, communicating trends to leadership, and supporting rate indications and filings while maintaining pricing models for programs.

The candidate should have 3+ years in P&C insurance, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Python, SQL, and R.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in property and casualty insurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling large datasets and basic calculations.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and derive insights.
  • Direct or indirect team management experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Python, SQL and R is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to convey complex information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Student member of actuarial institutes (IAI/IFoA/CAS) is a plus.
  • Ability to plan work and meet deadlines.

  • IBNR forecasting
  • Monitor profitability and communicate trends to executive leadership
  • Rate indications and rate filing support as needed
  • Maintain pricing models (to include raters) and continued program business support
  • For new programs- Develop actuarial rate support for new products
  • Develop premium generators and raters
  • Provide responses to objections/interrogatories from state departments regarding rates & rate support
  • Conduct competitive rate analyses to ensure rate are both adequate and competitive in the market (pull competitor rate filings and compare to our new product)
Qualifications
  • Graduate/post-graduate with 3+ years of experience in P& C insurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with large datasets, perform basic calculations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Direct or indirect team management experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, SQL and R is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively convey complex information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in the field of Actuarial Science and General Insurance.
  • Ability to plan work effectively to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A student member of any of the actuarial institutes but not limited to IAI/IFoA/CAS.

  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar tools (advantageous).
  • The ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex ideas clearly.
