Job summary

Gallagher in India is seeking a credentialed actuary to join a dynamic team focused on large commercial clients. The role supports risk financing, design of insurance solutions, and analytical initiatives across divisions, including software and technology work.

The candidate will develop models for frequency/severity, present findings to risk managers and executives, and contribute to captives, reserves, and capital studies while mentoring juniors.

Qualifications

• Graduate or Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years of actuarial/analytic experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Associate or Fellow member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or progress towards.

Responsibilities

• Develop statistical models for frequency and severity of claims to analyse programme structures.
• Present risk financing outcomes and technical information to executives and brokers.
• Perform Risk Tolerance analysis of financials to assess loss withstand capability.
• Oversee reserving studies for clients with large self-insurance retentions.
• Price and design catastrophe-exposed property programmes using RMS/AIR outputs.
• Provide actuarial input into captive feasibility studies and formations.
• Conduct dynamic financial analysis and capital studies for captives.
• Manage time, deadlines, and prioritise projects.

How you’ll make an impact

We are looking for a credentialed actuary to join our highly dynamic and growing team. The role supports broking divisions by providing analytical services for existing large clients, assisting in tenders and new business activities, and contributing to the development and implementation of new products, including software and technology initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is skilled in actuarial analysis and consulting.

The role will support risk financing and design insurance optimisation strategies for large corporate clients. In addition, various Gallagher divisions require a full portfolio statistical/actuarial analysis including but not necessarily restricted to: Rate analysis and rate adequacy, deductible and lapse impact analysis and exposure analysis regarding accumulation and aggregation issues for underwriters.

The key areas of the role are:

• Develop statistical models for the frequency and severity of claims to analyse alternative insurance programme structures, which may include self-insurance retentions, captive insurance companies or mutuals.


• Present risk financing outcomes and technical information to a broad audience, including risk managers, C-suite executives and brokers.


• Perform Risk Tolerance analysis of financials to help clients understand their ability to withstand insurance losses


• Oversee reserving studies for corporate and public sector clients with large self-insurance retentions.


• Price and design catastrophe - exposed property programmes using RMS and AIR output.


• Provide actuarial input into captive feasibility studies and formation.


• Conduct dynamic financial analysis and capital studies for captives.


• Manage your own time, including meeting deadlines and prioritizing projects.


• Mentor and review work performed by junior colleagues, promoting a curious and learning environment.

About you

• Graduate or Postgraduate degree.


• Minimum of 3 years of experience.


• Strong communication and presentation skills.


• Associate or Fellow member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or good progress towards.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Python or R.
