Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline in Bengaluru seeks a Reporting Specialist to support the Finance Controllership team with financial accounting, reporting and controls for markets and entities. You will help ensure P&L accuracy and drive analytics and insights within a strong control environment.

Responsibilities include monthly/ quarterly reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and collaboration with P2P/O2C/FRMC teams to close books.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in finance controllership and related accounting roles.
• Experience with financial accounting, reporting and statutory filing.
• Familiarity with internal controls and tax requirements.
• MBA or accounting degree with professional qualification preferred.

About the role

The Reporting Specialist support the Finance Controllership team in the financial accounting, controlling & reporting, controls requirements for specific market / global entity. The role supports the accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet, provide analytics and insights that support the business to develop accurate plans in a strong controls and assurance environment.

Role & Responsibilities

• Working closely with the respective Controllership team to contribute to the monthly / quarterly / annual reporting of financial results and execution of controls part of the Internal Control Framework for markets / entities under responsibility.
• Providing commentaries in relation to P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow as needed.
• Review of monthly Balance Sheet schedules & reconciliation where required.
• Liaise with respective stakeholders of Balance Sheet Reconciliations to resolve open items.
• Assist with aspects of financial month end review process: Manage Operating Expenditure and all reporting requirements (including Operating Expenditure & Headcount Reporting) Review and processing of Opex provisions, accruals, standard journals etc.
• Ensure entities results are fully compliant with all relevant accounting standards, policies, best practice and any other requirements in place.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other functions (e.g. P2P, O2C, FRMC, StatTax) to ensure successful closing activities.
• Perform variance analysis for Balance Sheet, Operating expenses, Margins and Profitability, review financial information against historical run rates and future growth plans.
• Participate & contribute into business reviews meetings as appropriate.
• Tightly controls transaction activity that operates in line with global processes and incorporates best practice financial controls.
• Supporting internal & external Audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all requirements encompassing data integrity and evidence of process and accuracy.
• Be involved in local and global projects as required.
• Drive Continuous Improvement in the Controllership space and standardization of processes / activities in partnership with the GPO.

Requirements

• At least 5-10 years of experience in similar Finance Controllership roles with expertise in areas of financial accounting, reporting and statutory filing, treasury, asset accounting, inter-company transactions, etc. with a good understanding of controls / Internal Control Framework and Tax requirements.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and policies.
• Experience in finance processes and associated technology platforms.
• Degree in Accounting, Economics or related field and/or MBA.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ACA or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Ability to connect and effectively communicate and partner with various stakeholders.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues, demonstrate problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, multicultural and global environment supporting multiple countries / entities globally.
• Previous experience of working with SAP/S4Hana, Lumira, Power BI, Agentic AI is an advantage.
• Attention to details, good analytical and presentation skillsets.
• Fluency in English is a requirement.
