Job summary

Crisil is seeking an experienced EDM Engineer to optimize and maintain the Security Master data layer. You will design workflows for data ingestion, mastering, enrichment, and publication, while ensuring data quality and robust lineage across multiple asset classes.

Role requires deep SQL/T-SQL expertise, hands-on EDM experience (IHS Markit/Markit or Gresham) and strong data governance skills to support cross-system integrations and trusted reference data.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with EDM platforms such as IHS Markit EDM / Markit EDM or Gresham EDM.
• Strong background implementing or supporting a Security Master or financial instrument reference-data platform.
• Expert-level SQL development skills in Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assess current Security Master architecture, workflows, data model, and business rules.
• Design, develop, configure, and maintain EDM workflows for data ingestion, mastering, enrichment, and publication.
• Work with EDM components for data loading, orchestration, matching, validation, and distribution.
• Build and optimize match/merge logic including exact, fuzzy, and rule-based matching.
• Define survivorship and source-precedence rules to create trusted golden records.
• Configure data-quality checks, validations, and remediation workflows.
• Support security mastering across asset classes (equities, fixed income, derivatives, funds, FX, etc.).
• Manage identifiers and cross-references (ISIN, CUSIP, SEDOL, tickers, exchanges).
• Support reference-data attributes (issuer, instrument class, currency, country, maturity, etc.).
• Ensure lineage, auditability, traceability, and controlled publication of mastered data.
• Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformations for EDM workflows.
• Build ETL pipelines from vendors, internal apps, data warehouses, data lakes, and ops systems.
• Create source-to-target mappings and transformation rules for feeds.

Key Responsibilities

Security Master and EDM Engineering

• Assess the current Security Master architecture, workflows, data model, business rules, and operational processes.
• Design, develop, configure, and maintain EDM workflows supporting the ingestion, transformation, mastering, enrichment, validation, and publication of security-reference data.
• Work with EDM components and configurations for data loading, workflow orchestration, matching, mastering, validation, exception management, and downstream distribution.
• Build and optimize match/merge logic, including exact, fuzzy, and rule-based matching across multiple source systems.
• Define and maintain survivorship and source-precedence rules to create trusted golden records.
• Configure business validations, data-quality checks, exception queues, and remediation workflows.
• Support security mastering across asset classes such as:
• Equities
• Fixed income and debt instruments
• Listed and OTC derivatives
• Funds
• Foreign exchange and money-market instruments
• Other relevant financial products
• Manage identifiers and cross-references, including ISIN, CUSIP, SEDOL, ticker, exchange codes, vendor identifiers, and internal security IDs.
• Support reference-data attributes such as issuer, instrument classification, currency, exchange, country, maturity, coupon, corporate hierarchy, and lifecycle status.
• Ensure lineage, auditability, traceability, and controlled publication of mastered data.

SQL, ETL, and Data Integration

• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and data transformations used by EDM workflows.
• Perform SQL-based data profiling, reconciliation, enrichment, deduplication, and exception analysis.
• Build and support ETL pipelines for loading data from vendors, internal applications, data warehouses, data lakes, and operational systems.
• Create source-to-target mappings and transformation rules for security-reference-data feeds.
• Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, batch processing, and high-volume data loads.
• Troubleshoot failed loads, workflow errors, data discrepancies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Support inbound and outbound integrations using files, databases, APIs, messaging platforms, and other enterprise integration mechanisms.
• Work with market- and reference-data feeds from providers such as Bloomberg, ICE, Refinitiv/LSEG, and other relevant sources, where applicable.
• Develop reconciliation controls to confirm completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across upstream and downstream systems.

Required Technical Skills

• Significant hands-on experience with IHS Markit EDM / Markit EDM and/or Gresham EDM.
• Strong experience implementing, enhancing, or supporting a Security Master or financial-instrument reference-data platform.
• Expert-level SQL development skills, preferably in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, or an equivalent relational database environment
