Job summary

Optum is seeking a hands‑on Senior AI or ML Engineer in Gurugram to design, build, and productionize AI/ML and GenAI solutions for healthcare operations and patient outcomes.

You will own end‑to‑end delivery, mentor a small team, and partner with product, data engineering, and clinical/operations stakeholders to deliver impactful results at scale.

Qualifications

10+ years of professional experience in software/ML engineering.
3+ years leading projects or teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field
MS/PhD preferred or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

Lead architecture and delivery of ML/GenAI solutions at production scale.
Build robust data and feature pipelines over large clinical and claims datasets.
Write efficient, well‑tested Python and SQL.
Develop and deploy LLM capabilities including prompt design, fine‑tuning, RAG pipelines, vector indexing, and evaluation with guardrails.
Establish MLOps and LLMOps best practices including CI/CD, model registry, experiment tracking, monitoring, drift detection, A/B testing, and cost/performance optimization.
Ensure data privacy, compliance, model governance, and Responsible AI.
Translate business problems into technical roadmaps.
Communicate trade‑offs and results to executives and non‑technical partners.
Mentor engineers and set engineering standards.
Collaborate with research, engineering, and product teams to move AI advancements into production‑ready capabilities.
Embed fairness, transparency, and accountability throughout the model development lifecycle.
