Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior AI/ML engineer with 10+ years of experience across software engineering, data science, and analytics to design and scale AI solutions. You will work with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LangChain, and vector databases, delivering responsible, production-ready AI capabilities.

The role requires cloud proficiency (AWS/Azure/GCP) and hands-on Python development, with a focus on model fine-tuning, benchmarking, and scalable deployment in a collaborative, policy-driven

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Science, or Analytics, with 8+ years in AI/ML engineering or related fields and the last 3+ years focused on Generative AI technologies including OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LangChain, Agents, RAG, Vector Databases, Prompt Engineering, and fine-tuning.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools such as MLFlow, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and Scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools and practices including Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience in AI and driving the development of innovative AI and machine learning solutions.
• Proficiency in Python or other programming languages for data analysis and AI/ML development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI solutions leveraging traditional Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI technologies
• Build applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, prompt engineering, and agent-based architectures
• Develop and optimize NLP solutions for text classification, summarization, information extraction, semantic search, and conversational AI use cases
• Evaluate, benchmark, and fine-tune foundation models using industry-standard frameworks and performance metrics
• Implement Responsible AI principles, ensuring solutions meet requirements for scalability, security, explain ability, and reliability
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements
