Job summary

Optum India is seeking a seasoned AI/ML engineer to design and deploy advanced AI solutions, including generative models and NLP pipelines, applying best practices in reliability and scalability. You will work across ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and tools (LangChain, vector stores) on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), with a focus on responsible AI and ethical deployment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• 10+ years in software engineering, data science or analytics with 8+ years in AI/ML engineering and 3+ years on Generative AI tech.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI solutions using ML, DL, and Generative AI technologies.
• Build apps with LLMs, RAG, vector stores, prompt engineering and agent-based architectures.
• Develop and optimize NLP solutions for text classification, summarization, information extraction, and semantic search.
• Evaluate and fine-tune foundation models using standard frameworks and metrics.
• Implement Responsible AI, ensuring scalability, security, explainability and reliability.
• Comply with company policies including changes to location, schedules, and flexible work arrangements.

• Design and develop AI solutions leveraging traditional Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI technologies
• Build applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, prompt engineering, and agent-based architectures
• Develop and optimize NLP solutions for text classification, summarization, information extraction, semantic search, and conversational AI use cases
• Evaluate, benchmark, and fine-tune foundation models using industry-standard frameworks and performance metrics
• Implement Responsible AI principles, ensuring solutions meet requirements for scalability, security, explain ability, and reliability
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Science, or Analytics, with 8+ years in AI/ML engineering or related fields and the last 3+ years focused on Generative AI technologies including OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LangChain, Agents, RAG, Vector Databases, Prompt Engineering, and fine-tuning
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools such as MLFlow, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and Scikit-learn
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools and practices including Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience in AI and driving the development of innovative AI and machine learning solutions
• Proficiency in Python or other programming languages for data analysis and AI/ML development
