Job summary

Blaugarnet Inc. is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to own the AI reasoning system, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation guardrails that power our product. You will design and ship the reasoning engine and orchestration components in a modern Python/FastAPI backend.

You’ll work closely with the founding engineer and join an early team to deliver trustworthy, scalable AI systems across live deployments with hybrid on-site collaboration in Pune.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of software engineering with backend focus, Python/FastAPI stack.
• 2–3 years building AI/GenAI systems in production, including RAG and orchestration.
• Startup temperament with ownership, ambiguity tolerance, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the reasoning engine and orchestration for AI pipelines.
• Architect enterprise retrieval pipelines over data using vector databases and embeddings.
• Develop LLM evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and benchmarking for production reliability.
• Build and maintain Python/FastAPI async services with CI/CD and containerised deployment.

Role Description

We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer (4–6 years experience) for a hands-on role at the core of the product — the AI reasoning system is the product, so the systems you build are the product itself. You'll design and ship the reasoning engine, retrieval pipelines, and the evaluation and guardrail machinery that makes them trustworthy in production, working directly with our Founding Engineer and close to our founder, a veteran with 25 years of AI and product leadership at Google and Adobe.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Reasoning engine: Design and build the core LLM reasoning and orchestration engine — planning, tool use, memory, and validation.
• RAG: Architect enterprise retrieval pipelines over structured and unstructured data using vector databases and embedding pipelines.
• Trustworthy AI: Build the LLM evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and benchmarks that make AI systems reliable in production; own cost and performance.
• Backend: Build and maintain the Python/FastAPI async services powering data-heavy AI applications, with CI/CD and containerised deployment.

Requirements:

• 4–6 years of software engineering with strong backend skills in a modern typed/async stack (we use Python/FastAPI today).
• AI-native development as your default mode — you work with coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) daily.
• 2–3 years building AI/GenAI systems in production — RAG, deterministic LLM orchestration, and evaluation-harness design; strong SQL/Postgres.
• Startup temperament — high agency, comfort with ambiguity, a bias to ship, and direct, low-ego communication.
